As sexual images and messages permeate our media, morality is on the decline.
Yet, Hollywood executive DeVon Franklin and his actress wife Meagan Good, continue to promote purity and integrity through their message of abstinence.
The couple, who participated in GRAMMY® Award-winning recording artist Erica Campbell’s “More Than Pretty” conference over the weekend, discussed the importance of dating God’s way.
In regards to repeatedly engaging in the act of fornication, in captured Instagram footage, Good told attendees, “At a point you realize, every time you move like that in a relationship, you’re gonna get the same result. At some point, it’s gonna end. At some point, it’s not gonna be healthy.”
She continued, “At some point, you’re giving pieces of yourself away and you’re taking pieces of them. You’re taking baggage.”
Franklin, who was abstinent for over 10 years before dating his now wife, was also captured in Campbell’s Instagram video saying this about waiting: “It was not an easy thing, but the thing that kept me committed to it was I believed that there was a purpose that God had for my life.”
The 37-year-old added, “If, in fact, sleeping with this woman on this night, would detour me from that purpose, or disqualify me from that purpose, would that moment [be worth it].”
National abstinence advocate Dianna Hobbs, author of indie bestseller The New A-List: Abstinence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder, said, “I’m thankful that the message of abstinence is going out and that people are catching on.”
The wife of 17 years who remained a virgin until marriage continued, “When Christian men and women use their platforms to encourage others to abstain from sex until marriage, it makes a huge difference.”
