Wherever you find yourself today, whether on the mountaintop or in the valley low, God is thinking of you and actively seeking ways to show you His goodness.
Earlier today, I was in the middle of handling some ministry stuff when God placed it on my heart to send my daughter Kyla a scripture. So I pushed what I was doing aside for a moment and texted the passage to her phone.
I didn’t know if Kyla would receive the verse right away because she was on campus. Though class wasn’t in session yet, she likes to spend time reading in the library. I knew there was a chance Kyla wouldn’t receive the message immediately.
I sent it right away anyway.
Moments after I hit send, I got a text response. Kyla told me she had just read that exact same verse. She was excited to have received it from me again because it let her know that it was confirmation from God. She was supposed to read that verse. God wanted that encouragement to grip her heart today.
I was so happy I obeyed!
God interrupted my plan and slightly rearranged the order of my day to accomplish His will. The thing I love about God is He is always thinking of us. He is consistently proving His love by going out of His way to assure, affirm and encourage us. He cares about you and me to the degree that He will disrupt even the best laid plans to satisfy our needs.
This is precisely what Jesus did when He broke protocol on the Sabbath to heal the man with a withered hand in Mark 3:1-6. The word of God says Jesus told this afflicted individual, “Stretch out your hand.”
According to verse 5, “He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.”
By healing this man on the Sabbath, Jesus upset the Pharisees. They were more concerned with keeping the law and making sure everything fit perfectly into their religious box, than they were about seeing the will of God accomplished. What a sad and selfish way of being.
But Jesus didn’t care about their anger, self-centered focus and religious elitism. He was more interested in revealing Himself to those who were willing to accept Him.
Friend, God wants to reveal Himself in your life, too. But you have to let go of your theories and philosophies about the way things ought to go. You must never box God in. Trust His way. Walk according to His will. Submit to His plans, even when they differ from yours. When you do, a wonderful world of opportunity opens up to you. You experience greater favor. You see God move in unexpected ways.
Whether it feels like it or not, know that you are always on God’s mind and He is constantly rearranging schedules, circumstances and breaking routines just to show you favor.
To help you meditate on this today, I’m stirring the question found in Psalm 8:4 NASB into your cup of inspiration, which says, “What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him?”
As you drink down the contents of your cup, practice seeing God even in life’s disruptions. Also, rest in knowing that you’re on God’s mind today and every day.
Be confident that as long as you yield to His perfect plan, you will be on the receiving end of every miracle, breakthrough and deliverance He desires to give you.
Now let’s pray.
God, I don’t always understand Your methods, but I trust both Your will and Your timing. In those moments when my personal plans are disrupted, help me to see Your presence in it and willingly submit to Your plans so I can experience the fullness of Your blessings and favor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
