On Christmas Day, as a family, we begin by celebrating the One in whose name we give gifts—Jesus Christ. He is the reason for the season. The Hobbs family loves to laugh, eat, exchange gifts, stay in pajamas all day, and play lots of games.
I cook up plenty of soul food. We bake our favorite desserts and eat, eat, eat all day long.
For us, Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Firstly, because we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the One who was born to die, to save us from our sins. Secondly, because we appreciate the abundant life we have in Him, which affords us the grace and opportunity to live joyfully, richly, and fully.
I don’t know what the Christmas season is like in your household, but I’d love to share some of our joy with you. Last year, I was very ill and could not partake in festivities. This year, I am strong and healthy, and I couldn’t be more content.
Jesus Christ is our source of joy. In Him we have all things!
In whatever state you're in, your contentment is in Him alone. (Philippians 4:12)
Perhaps you’re feeling jovial, too. Or, maybe you’re struggling due to loss and other challenges. Wherever you find yourself, I believe joy is contagious. And if you are in fellowship with Christ, in Him you’ll find peace, comfort and the fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).
As Nehemiah 8:10 NIV says, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
I love you.
From our house to yours, Merry Christmas!
