Seasons of heartache and trouble can feel an awful lot like
walking through a dark tunnel, with no light anywhere in sight. With no idea
how long the difficult season will last, it can seem like an eternity. But
there is hope. There is an answer. There is a solution for you.
Your Daily Cup of Inspiration typically features articles based on my personal experiences and inspirational points God leads me to draw out from them. But on this day, I feel God leading me to share Karen Fikes's testimony here instead.
I don't know who this is for, but whoever you are, know that there is no situation too hard, or valley too low, for God to deliver you.
My friend, you may be struggling through numerous setbacks and seemingly hopeless circumstances. But God wants you to know there is light at the end of that dark tunnel.
His hand is on your life. All that you are now going through will, one day, be a testimony of deliverance, which will shine the glorious light of God's love, hope and joy into the darkness of someone else's midnight black tunnel.
This testimony, orginally shared by the editorial team of Empowering Everyday Women Online Magazine, is reposted for you below.
If you have a testimony to share also that you believe will be a blessing, let me know about it at [email protected].
Today, Karen Fikes is an evangelist, happy wife, and proud mother of three. But things weren’t always this way.
The domestic violence survivor shares with CBN, the powerful testimony of how God delivered her from the ongoing assault of a former boyfriend—the same man who went on to murder someone else.
“It could have been me,” she said, reflecting back on the rocky relationship.
For a year and a half, Steve, whom Karen met through her sister, showered her with love and affection. But after 18 months, things went south and turned sour.
“He acted like he owned me,” she told CBN. “He felt like he had some type of control over me, to where if I didn’t do what he wanted me to do or think the way he wanted me to think, or say what he wanted me to say, he would go off on one of his fits.”
One terrifying night, she woke up to find Steve hovering over her with a butcher knife. “I just saw my life flash before me and I thought I was getting ready to die,” but God spared her.
In a fit of rage, he eventually left.
“I said, ‘God please, if You don’t help me out of this relationship, I am going to end up dead,” she prayed in earnest. “I need You to help me. I need You to help me out of this relationship.”
CBN reports, the following day, Steve phoned Karen from jail. He had been charged with murdering someone else and was later sentenced to over 20 years in prison.
“I realized then that it could’ve been me. It could have been me,” the survivor noted.
Realizing that it was the goodness and mercy of God that saved her, Karen gave her heart to Jesus Christ and is now working for the Lord.
