All day today, Chris Tomlin’s song, “Our God Is Greater,” has been ringing in my spirit. While completing my daily responsibilities, the lyrics have filled my head and heart with proclamations of God’s greatness.
Our God is greater,
our God is stronger
God You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God, Our God...
Reflecting on the awesomeness of the One I serve is a magnificent way to keep me motivated and focused on what I am able to do with His help.
Many times, I see people burdened down, worried and feeling hopeless. They are overwhelmed by life and find themselves in a deep, dark hole of despair.
“Life is so hard, Dianna,” they tell me. “I can’t do this.”
They are right.
Life is hard.
No matter who we are or where we go, we all face difficulties: me, you, all of us. And the truth is, on our own, we cannot handle it. It is too much. The burden is impossible to bear… by ourselves.
This is why ditching me-focused thoughts is a critical part of walking in joy and peace throughout the day.
You see, looking at our own limitations is draining. It sucks out our energy and enthusiasm, and replaces optimism with pessimism and sorrow.
But placing our attention on God’s unlimited power working through us will cause these depressing worries and fears to dissipate.
So the next time you feel discouraged about the overwhelming challenges and obstacles you are facing, tell yourself:
I can’t. God can.
I am unable. God is more than able.
The opposition is strong. God is stronger.
The pain is great. God is greater.
See how that works? Turn those declarations of fear and defeat, into professions of faith and victory.
I know things can get rough—really rough. Trust and believe me, I do. But I also know how to make it through the turbulent times.
Here's what you should do: switch gears.
How?
Whenever you feel forlorn in the middle of that woe-is-me party, shift your focus to the One above, who sits high, looks low, and can do absolutely anything. When you are staring at obstacles that seem too big to surmount, have faith, not in your power, but God’s.
And know this: when you are fully committed to Him and His work, He will supply everything you need to fulfill your destiny and live the abundant life Christ died to give you.
To remind you of this truth, I’m stirring 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV into your cup of inspiration. It says, “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you will be reminded that, there is nothing too hard for Him.
Friend, when you serve the Lord and invest in His Kingdom, every need you have will be supplied.
God, when I feel discouraged, please remind me that I can’t, but You can, because with You, all things are possible. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
