The Hobbs children are eager for the weather to break here in Buffalo, NY, where it stays cold for a lot longer than areas with milder climate. Here, though we are well into spring, the temperature still drops pretty low at night and a jacket, as well as a little heat in the house, is still needed.
Our boys, in particular, are anxious for the consistently warm days of summer, so their ears won’t ache from the cold wind blowing in them when they ride their bicycles outdoors.
When the high temperatures and humidity hit our neck of the woods, however, they likely won’t be as enthusiastic.
I know I won’t.
I am not a huge fan of sweltering temps.
I can see it now. I’ll be sitting by the window wishing for a cool breeze to gently blow in. There is nothing like natural fresh air to cool and soothe.
Unlike anything else, the wind tickling my face always feels so nice and refreshing when it’s scorching hot. It makes the conditions more bearable, just as the fresh wind of the Holy Spirit does in our spiritual lives.
When we are in God's presence, that doesn't mean the heat of our trials goes away. But His touch helps us handle what would otherwise seem impossible to manage.
I know it would be wonderful if there was a way that we could avoid the fiery furnace of affliction.
There isn’t.
But there is the anointing of the Holy Ghost there to refresh, renew, and rejuvenate us, increasing our capacity to withstand it all.
Perhaps you're going through a difficult season when the heat is on, the pressure is great, and the load feels almost too much to bear. The troubles and cares of this world may have you feeling weary, drained, suffocated, and desperately in need of relief.
Well, my prayer for you is that God would send a fresh wind of His presence to blow through your life to comfort and relieve you.
Today, I don't want you to try to pray away the trial or tribulation. We all have to go through sometimes. Rather, join me in asking God to allow His spirit to envelop your total being, so you can handle what you’re facing, with Him on your side.
He is able to stabilize your emotions, give rest to your troubled mind, and lift your hung-down head. With His help, you can make it.
To remind you of this, I’m stirring Isaiah 43:2 NIV into your cup of inspiration. It says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you’ll be reminded that even though it may get hot, God will walk through the fire with you. He won't allow you to be incinerated or consumed.
When it gets rough, you can be confident, courageous and comforted because of this truth: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13 NIV)
Now, let’s pray.
God, when life gets to be too much, please remind me that You are with me, and that You have equipped me with everything I need to make it through. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
