The other
day, I was reading to the Hobbs children about the late civil rights activist,
Coretta Scott King, from a book series called Journey To Freedom: The African American Library.
The nonfiction work blends true stories of Coretta’s life with pictures and historical facts to illustrate the struggles, and triumphs this influential Christian woman went through to make a difference.
The children were rapt as they listened to my oral presentation highlighting the hardships of growing up in the segregated south. They were intrigued by how the abilities Coretta developed as a singer, writer, and speaker, were later instrumental in spreading the message of freedom.
Before meeting and marrying Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., she was busy with her college studies and aspirations to be an opera singer.
But God had different—even bigger—plans for her life.
I love helping our children and others see that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
Many times, we look at faith leaders and celebrated change-agents in society and forget that they, at one point, just like us, were simply living their lives. What they accomplished with God’s help, no matter how remarkable, began with a rather unremarkable series of steps.
It was not until God ordered those steps, that their purpose was awakened and caused them to rise up to do greater things.
My friend, God has a plan for you that goes far beyond what you can imagine right now. Daily, as you surrender to His will, He is leading you closer to your place of destiny.
If you only knew what was awaiting you in your future, you would not despise the present, because it is your preparation for what is to come.
Right now, you are in the trenches, working toward transforming into all God has predestined you to be. What's coming is amazing, special and beneficial, not just to you, but to the lives of everyone you touch.
So, as you work and wait for God to reveal the fullness of His will, don’t give up. Even though it may seem hard or unlikely that your life will produce a mighty Kingdom harvest, keep holding on to faith.
The devil doesn’t want you to believe. That way, you will never see what the end will be. He wants you to give up on everything so you cannot be the bold, impactful leader you have been created to become.
But don’t quit.
Don’t forfeit your destiny because you failed to believe.
Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, not your circumstances and know that greater is coming.
How can you do this? By obeying the words of Hebrews 12:2 NLT, which is what I am stirring in your cup of inspiration today.
It says, “We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you will be reminded that even Jesus had to go through His process, which, in the end, produced the greatest harvest of souls. It is because of Him that you and I are saved today.
His obedience paved the way for us to live our purpose.
Your obedience will do the same for the souls you are called to reach with the message of God's love, hope and redemtion through Christ.
But you must hold on.
Keep working and believing. God's word promises that you will see His amazing handiwork in your life.
Remain steadfast.
Great things are on the horizon.
Now let’s pray.
God, I thank You for reminding me that You have great plans in store for my life. Sometimes, I don’t see it and I don’t feel like it. But please teach me not to base my hope upon what I see with my eyes, but rather, to build my trust in what You have said in Your word. I choose to believe today, according Philippians 1:6, that the good work You have begun in me, will be completed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you need prayer, don't hesitate to request it. I would be honored to stand in faith with You. I know that prayer works. CLICK HERE to learn how to submit your prayer request.
