A year ago today, I felt nervous, uncertain and completely out of my element.
“God, are you sure I’m the one?” I questioned in my heart. I had no experience or evidence that this whole thing would even work out.
All I knew is that God had opened a door He was telling me to walk through and I wanted to obey Him. Clearly, He saw something in me I didn’t see in myself—at all.
But I figured, hey.
The Lord, God of Isaac, Abraham, and Jacob (Yeah, Him!), has a pretty amazing track record. So if He was pushing me to go forward, despite how I felt about it, I should do it… scared out of my wits and all.
You know what? Today marks the one-year anniversary of what began as one of the scariest ventures of my life that has turned into one of the most rewarding!
My daily radio show, Cross Culture in HD on WUFO 1080 in Buffalo, NY, has been on air for 12 months and I love it. I go into the station every single day with such deep gratitude in my heart.
I think, “Wow! God you chose me to reach so many people in Western NY and across the nation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
What an honor and privilege!
What in the world was I fearful of? Why was I quaking in my boots about such an awesome opportunity to do Kingdom work?
Well, that’s easy.
It’s because I’m human and we all have some level of trepidation about entering unknown territory. Naturally, all sorts of things go through our minds, particularly, thoughts about that looming possibility of failure.
Not to mention, our chief adversary, Satan, tries to do everything in his power to scare us away from our destiny.
But if I have learned anything over the past year along my exhilarating radio journey, it is this: God has equipped us to do everything He has called us to do if we will only obey Him.
No matter what we think we lack, He is our sufficiency.
We just need confidence, not in ourselves, but in His ability to work through us.
Friend, listen. If you have the audacity to defy fear and tap into faith, God will do “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” according to Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)—which is what I’m stirring into your cup of inspiration today.
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you will be empowered to boldly trust that God’s anointing is working in you. He has supernaturally equipped you to succeed in the specific area of ministry you are called to, but you have to kick fear to the curb.
That doesn’t mean you’ll never feel nervous butterflies, or get a little shaken up when taking on new challenges.
But through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, if you move forward, you will conquer every fear with faith.
As I celebrate my one-year anniversary, along with my co-host DJ Hassan, I’m praying that God will empower you to walk in your purpose despite how scary it seems. And I believe one day, you’ll also look back and say, “What was I so afraid of?”
Now let’s pray.
God, I know You have called me to do great things, far beyond what I ever thought I was capable of doing. Although I desire to be obedient, sometimes, fear tries to get the best of me. But today, I declare, by faith, it is a new day, a new season in my life. I purposely resist fear and choose to believe that I can do all things through You, the One who strengthens me and orders my every step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
If you need prayer, don't hesitate to request it. I would be honored to stand in faith with You. I know that prayer works. CLICK HERE to learn how to submit your prayer request.
