Our six-year-old son Kaleb likes to do things on his own. Even if he asks for assistance, halfway through the process, he begins whining, saying, “I can do it myself.”
Over and over again, our zealous little one forgets about his personal ineptitude that, just moments earlier, led him to solicit assistance. So he gets frustrated quickly, frequently, and unnecessarily.
Rather than patiently receiving the instruction that would empower him to eventually be self-sufficient, Kaleb bucks against the process.
Because of his immaturity, he doesn’t realize how counterproductive it is to despise the lesson that contains the wisdom necessary to accomplish his goals.
And you know what? If we are not careful, in our walk with the Lord, we will make the exact same mistake. Our flesh will get so preoccupied with having what it wants that it will refuse to submit to Gods’ training process.
And whenever we are motivated by selfish desires…oh boy.
It becomes very hard to accept the method and timetable the Lord chooses to strengthen, mature, guide and align us with His will.
You see, in the Kingdom of God, we don’t get anything before we’re able to handle it. No matter how much we cry, kick, and scream, training always comes before reigning. Submission to the authority of God is a prerequisite to walking in divine authority.
We must remember that, when it comes to getting what we desire, no matter how deep the yearning, our season of earning is always preceded by a time of learning.
Preparation comes before manifestation.
So when we ask God for a blessing, very often, He gives us a lesson that will make us ready to receive what we have conceived in our minds.
So don’t let the enemy get you agitated, antsy, and anxious for the next phase or level. Learn how to wait patiently upon the Lord. There’s a blessing in waiting and doing things God’s way.
To remind you of this, I’m stirring Psalm 130:5 into your cup of inspiration. It says, “I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you’ll resist frustration and over-zealousness. You will realize that God has you where you are for a reason.
And it is not until you have learned and internalized the lesson in your heart, that you will ultimately see the progression in your life.
In the meantime, recognize that it is wise to wait on the Lord, and to do it with a good attitude to avoid unnecessary discontentment with a process that cannot be circumvented.
Now let’s pray.
God, there are many desires in my heart, but I know that I must wait for Your perfect timing. Please help me to submit to Your process, which ultimately, leads me to the place where I will receive Your unfailing promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
