Take a journey back in time.
Think.
Your memory is the most powerful stimulation tool to stir up your praise. And every now and again, you need to look back and reflect on a time when you were absolutely at your lowest point, and recall how God lifted you up.
I had a moment like that today during my time of worship and communion with the Lord.
I took a mental glimpse into my history and considered some of the times when things looked so dark I thought I wouldn’t make it through.
But then, God happened.
The more I mediated on His goodness, a sincere praise of gratitude welled up on the inside, and a river of tears flowed on the outside from the depths of my thankfulness.
The scripture that best describes my sentiments is found in Psalm 18:6. It says, “In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears.”
Over and over again, He has heard, healed, and helped me. For that, I am eternally grateful.
Do you know the thing I love about personal reflection? You can go as far and deep as you desire. You can revisit those secret places, silent struggles, and difficult experiences that once had a hold on you, and offer up a praise of thanksgiving to God for setting you free from the grip of bondage.
It’s a beautiful thing.
You might dance before the Lord, cry, lift your hands in worship, or just sit silently in the presence of the Lord. The outward reaction is not as important as the inward reflection.
Today, I want you to take the "think and praise" challenge. All you have to do is steal away to a place where you can be alone--just you and God. Think back on some despairing moments from which God delivered you with a mighty hand.
Then praise Him with all your might and watch Him wrap you in His loving arms as His anointing engulfs your entire being.
To help you think back on the goodness of the Lord, I’m stirring Psalm 124:1a NIV into your cup of inspiration. It simply says, “If the Lord had not been on our side…”
When you drink down the contents of your cup of inspiration today, you will be led on a supernatural journey down memory lane. There you will find an overflowing well of praise that will never run dry.
With your whole being you will exalt God, the One who brought you out, and be filled with a renewed faith in His unfailing power to do it again!
Now let’s pray.
God, if I ever feel overwhelmed with the struggles in my fight, help me to look back on Your goodness and remember that You are the same God that brought me out before. And help me to confidently declare, by faith, that You will do it again in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
