What is God up to? Do you ever wonder that?
Many times, when you're trusting Him to bring things full circle in yor life, three things are missing: Details, details, details. :-)
I love details. They make me more comfortable. That's why, in staff meetings, I always ask my team for specifics: facts, figures, statistics, and end goals.
I want to hear core plans, contingency plans and hypothetical ones too. I like to see numbers, projections and rock solid information.
I’m more at peace when I feel like I’m making an informed decision.
I like to know where I’m going, when I’ll get there and what to expect at every turn. When it comes to serious matters pertaining to ministry and business, I do not enjoy surprises in the least. They rattle me and leave me feeling discombobulated and out of sorts.
Having said all that, it still doesn’t change the fact that, uh, God isn’t my employee. And, um, He doesn’t work on my terms.
Whether I’ve liked it or not, over the years, I’ve discovered the truth in this saying: “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”
He is sovereign and does exactly what He wants to do, when He gets ready to do it. Romans 11:34 says, "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"
He does not consult with us or get us to sign off on the details of His plan before setting it in motion. Once we make Him Lord of our lives, by extension, we agree to submit to His methods.
Sometimes, we won’t understand what He’s doing or why He’s doing it a certain way. And in our immaturity, we may, like undisciplined children in public, fall out in the floor and throw a tantrum. But as we mature, we realize God is not moved by our hissy fits and meltdowns.
So we calm down, gather ourselves, regain our bearings and say what Jesus said in the Garden of Gethsemane in Luke 22:42, which is what I’m stirring into your cup of inspiration today. Jesus said, “…Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you will be reminded that, even for our Savior, it was an agonizing decision to submit to God’s plan. But the same power that was at work in Jesus Christ, lives inside of us today.
Even without details along our uphill journey, God will send strength to us, just as He did with His own son. The Bible says inLuke 22:43 that an angel came and strengthened Jesus.
Right now, God strengthens you.
What you're reading at this very moment is a dose of empowerment and an admonishment to keep trusting that God has and will continue to provide all you need to fulfill His will.
Now let's pray.
God, when I can’t trace Your course, please help me trust Your character. And when I feel the discomfort of uncertainty, help me find comfort in the certainty of Your word. When the journey gets hard, remind me that Your yoke is easy. And let me never forget that without You I can do nothing, but through You I am able to do all things. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
