Is there a scripture in the Bible that says something like, “If you love the Lord your God with all your heart, you will be exempt from all life’s trouble?”
Hmmm…I read God’s word all the time and I’ve never stumbled across that one. If that were in the Bible, I bet it would be on most Christians’ list of favorite biblical promises!
How about this one: “The favor of God is an invisible force field round about those who serve the Lord that keeps them from experiencing any heartache or sorrow?”
I haven’t stumbled across that passage either during any frantic searches for encouragement from God’s word.
But I have read these words: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Those are the very words of Jesus, in fact, which can be found in John 16:33.
And there is nothing evasive about that statement.
No matter how much we love, serve, and commit our lives to Christ, we are guaranteed to go through troubles. We are not exempt.
But even though God’s word is clear, many times, we have a different expectation. Because of that, we somehow feel let down by life (and God) when we are hit with disappointments, setbacks, and tribulations.
Though we have heard it said many times before that God never promised life would be easy, the road we travel smooth, or the sky above us blue, that can still be hard to accept.
In our heads we know the truth, but still, in our hearts, we long for a life of ease, pleasure, and sunshine.
Well, I have good news and bad news. And I’ll give you the bad news first. Trouble is inevitable… but then, so is victory through Christ Jesus. Psalm 34:19 NIV, which I’m stirring in your cup of inspiration today, puts it this way: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you’ll be reminded that God’s word gives two guarantees: trouble in life and triumph through Christ. When it's all said and done, the good news is that the bad news is temporary, because God’s word, which promises victory, is eternal!
So instead of feeling victimized by hard times, my friend, remind yourself that you are victorious despite hard times, because God is on your side.
Now let’s pray.
God, I don’t like facing heartache and trouble, but I know it’s unavoidable. So today, I ask that You will help me accept the fact that difficult times will come, while I'm yet clinging tightly to faith and hope in Your promise to bring me out victoriously. I trust You Lord and I praise You in advance for deliverance at the appointed time, according ot Your will. In Jesus name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
