Kids can teach us stuffy adults a thing or two about enjoying life and not being so uptight.
My husband Kenya and I were laughing the other day about our six year old son Kaleb. He gets so over-the-top happy about the simplest things and it’s completely adorable. If he requests something, no matter how small it is, and is granted permission, he has a fully animated outburst of joy.
For example, Kaleb loves wheat bread.
So he asked me for a slice Saturday and I said yes. Immediately, Daily Cup family, our youngest son started celebrating and rejoicing like he had won a trip to Disney World. And he does that all the time.
“Yes!” he shouted, leaping and reaching trampoline-like heights, while twirling in mid-air.
It was cute and hilarious at the same time. That boy was seriously happy about that bread.
Kenya chuckled about it and said Kaleb is never going to believe us when we tell him how much he used to bounce around and lose it over life’s simplest things.
It’s too bad that, as adults, our carefree excitement is replaced with worry, stress, and anxiety.
Problems, issues, setbacks, challenges, and all the things that could “possibly” go wrong in the future, often send us into a never-ending cycle of worry. As women (Men too!), we can be real worrywarts sometimes, can’t we?
But God doesn’t want us to live in a state of constant anxiety and fear about our future. He wants us to walk in faith, confidence, and trust in His power to do all things.
I know it doesn’t always seem easy and we all get tempted to worry and stress from time to time. But thank God His word tells us how to break free from anxiousness and anxiety about life.
Today, I feel led to tackle worry head-on and give you some biblical encouragement that I use in my own life in order to help you release worry in your life.
I shared this on my Facebook page earlier.
If you have faith in the One who holds the future, you do not need to fear what the future holds. The same God who created and continues to care for the whole world, sees, knows, and cares about what’s happening in your world.
So stop worrying, because it won’t add anything to your life, but it will take away joy, peace, and hope from your life. Matthew 6:27 asks, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”
No one can!
So instead of being anxious about tomorrow, place your confidence in the God who controls tomorrow, and do it today! He already knows what you need anyway.
To help you release worry, I’m stirring a portion of Matthew 6:8 into your cup of inspiration that says, “…Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup today, you will be reminded that God is fully aware of your needs, concerns, and difficulties. And He wants you to trust Him right where you are.
You may feel like you have gone as far as you can go, and done all you can. If so, then all you need to do is rest in God, then, watch God do the rest.
Now pray this prayer with me.
God, I want to break free from worry. I desire to trust in Your power to handle things, but it gets really tough sometimes. Right where I am, dear Lord, please help me to release the things that are worrying me and give it all to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
If you need prayer, don't hesitate to request it. I would be honored to stand in faith with You. I know that prayer works. CLICK HERE to learn how to submit your prayer request.
