Yesterday was my daughter Kaiah’s 11th birthday and she was just all smiles. She could hardly contain her excitement about opening gifts and celebrating her special day. It is thrilling for me to see her maturing into a lovely young lady with a quiet, gentle spirit, and a compassionate heart sensitive to the things of God.
Over dinner, I told my youngest girl how it seemed strange to watch her growing up so fast. She smiled at me in between bites and blushed as I shared stories of her early days, and recounted the things that were special about her.
When I look into Kaiah’s beautiful dark eyes, I still see our precious, fragile newborn baby.
I guess that’s true of all our children.
No matter how old they get, their sentimental mom will always view them as “my babies.”
I’ll forever want to protect, guide, encourage, nurture them, and ensure that they have all they need to be joyful and whole, and live out their divine purpose in life. As long as my mind remains sharp and alert, as God leads me, I will share any wisdom and insights I believe will help them along life’s journey.
Still, I know as much as I want to teach them everything, there is some wisdom only God can impart. There are certain situations through which only God can carry them.
Though I think it is normal for all loving parents to feel a bit nervous about how their children will fare down the road, there is one thing that helps me. I think about how my own parents provided the best foundation for me they could; yet, God is the one who has continually developed me into the woman He desires me to be daily.
His sufficiency has compensated for all my deficiencies. So I trust that His grace will also be sufficient for my children, just as it has been for both you and me.
Consider for a moment all the things God has invested and instilled in you that your parents were unable to. Think of how much you have grown, learned, changed, matured, and blossomed because of His guidance. Imagine where you would be had it not been for the Lord on your side. I’m sure that’s enough to make you shout out, “Thank God His grace is sufficient!”
Where you are weak, He is strong. The areas where you are incapable, He is more than able. Though you may fail, God never does.
That is so comforting to know. Isn’t it?
To help you get this word in your spirit, I’m stirring a portion of 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV into your cup of inspiration. It says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
When you drink down the contents of your cup of inspiration, you will rejoice in the knowledge that our all-powerful God is able to make up for everything we lack. When we lean on Him, trust Him, follow after Him, and rest in His arms, the Father will take us to the place He predestined us to be.
By His Holy Spirit, He will daily empower us to walk in our purpose and fulfill our destiny.
So no matter what we have or do not have, as long as we possess the power of the Greater One on the inside, God is more than enough!
Now let’s pray.
God, thank You for reminding me that You are all I’ll ever need to live out and fulfill my purpose. Thank You for the assurance that, by Your power, I am more than a conqueror and able to do all things. Today, I put my faith and confidence in You alone, for You are my sufficiency. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
