I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday after a hectic weekend, but there was a youth service going on at my local church last night. My sister Shante and her husband Rafiq (We call him Rock), who have been newly appointed as our district’s youth leaders, asked me to make sure I didn’t miss it.
My weekday schedule is very tight, but I wanted to be supportive of them, so I vowed to attend.
After I finished my daily radio show last evening, I hurried from the station as quickly as I could. I picked up my mother and we headed off to the service together. Though late because of my media responsibilities and physically exhausted, I didn’t let that stop me.
Thankfully, I was still able to make it there in pretty good time and slip into a seat near the back of the crowded sanctuary.
It was surely a sacrifice to go, but I’m glad I pressed my way.
Today, when I talked to Shante and Rock, they told me they were so grateful I came. “When I saw you in the back I was so happy!” my sister shared excitedly on the phone.
Had I reneged, I would have broken my promise. I would not have been able to witness the incredible job the two did coordinating the youth service. I would have missed out on the anointed worship, beautiful praise dancing, singing, and powerful ministry. I also would not have been a part of the move of God that swept through the house.
The presence of the Lord met us richly during the service and we had a wonderful time praising and rejoicing. As tears poured down my cheeks while giving God glory last evening, the anointing enveloped me and my spirit was refreshed Daily Cup family.
Even with a full plate, honoring my promise to show love and support to my family, turned into a spiritual blessing for me.
Whenever you give, God has a way of giving it right back to you, doesn’t He? When you pour out for others, He will pour into you. Your needs will be met when you meet the needs of others.
If we're too wrapped up in ourselves, it's impossible for God to use us as ministry conduits through which blessings flow out to others. When we become more helpful and generous, we have greater Kingdom impact, and put ourselves in position to receive an outpouring of favor from the Lord.
To remind you to apply today’s lesson to your life, I’m stirring Proverbs 11:25 NLT into your cup of inspiration. It says, “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you’ll realize that extending yourself for the benefit of someone else is not in vain. God wants us to open our hearts and hands, and help. When we do, He rewards us for our contribution. Though we don't do it for the payoff (Even if no one ever seems to notice or says thank you, do it anyway!), God sees. And what is right, He’ll pay.
Remember, blessings flow to you when God can trust that they’ll flow through you, to others.
Now let’s pray.
God I thank You for reminding me that I am blessed to be a blessing. As I give to others, I praise You in advance for meeting my every need according to Your riches in glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
