That was the answer the Lord gave me after I prayed and agonized over a decision. It wasn’t that I had a problem walking away from this particular thing I had been doing for years. It’s just that I wanted to be sure of the direction God wanted me to go.
I wasn’t about to take any action until His will was clear to me.
Uncomfortable and all, my desire to be in His will, far exceeds my desire for comfort.
And yet, that nebulous, uncertain state of being was a true challenge for me.
Before the Lord gave me a definitive answer, I was torn in my spirit. I felt this sense of restlessness, Daily Cup family, like I had outgrown what had been right for me during a previous time in my life.
I sensed that, that time was now gone and this duty, this obligation, no longer fit me.
But again, God is the final authority in my life and I wasn’t closing a chapter without confirmation from Him that it was okay to do so.
Finally, God let me know in no uncertain terms that it was quitting time. The moment had come to wave goodbye, say the benediction and declare that season over in my life. When I did, immediately, I experienced a profound sense of gratification, freedom and peace.
Throughout our lives, we reach critical junctures when we must acknowledge the expiration dates on specific things and walk away. If something you're still holding onto has expired, it's time to release it.
My prayer for you is that you never drop anchor and stay when God is telling you to drop it and go.
Perhaps you have a deep inner knowing that something is coming to a close in your life. You might be able to relate to that restlessness I so strongly felt. If so, pray about it. And once God gives you the okay, move on and don't look back.
Today, whatever that expired season, relationship, or role is in your life, if God is urging you to say goodbye, don’t hesitate. Walk away. Embrace your new season. To remind you to do this, I’m stirring Isaiah 43:19a KJV into your cup of inspiration. It says, "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you will see that God is birthing something new and fresh in your life. Your eyes will be opened to the revelation of His plan. You will be confident and strong enough to say goodbye to the old so you can walk into your new season of divine purpose and destiny.
Don't worry.
Just grab hold to God's hand and He'll walk with you.
Now let’s pray together.
God, I know that no season lasts forever, but times of change can be challenging to perceive and act upon. I pray that You will open my eyes and give me clarity of purpose. Let me know what Your good and perfect will is for my life. And when the right time comes, please give me the strength and confidence to step out of the old and into the new place of destiny You have waiting for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
