My staff notified me that there was some sort of mix-up with my Damita Haddon interview yesterday for CROSS CULTURE IN HD. She was scheduled to speak to me on air and the station was already promoting her guest appearance.
But somehow, due to staff miscommunication, we missed each other.
Once my staff made it clear that Damita and I weren’t going to be able to reschedule to make this thing happen, I felt unusually calm about the whole ordeal.
I told my husband Kenya, “I’m not worried about it.”
God gave me peace. I didn’t feel the least bit anxious about having the lineup of my radio show disrupted on such short notice. I could sense that God had another plan.
Daily Cup family, just that morning, before the Damita Haddon mix-up ever occurred, the Lord dropped a spoken word artist named Oraia Speaks in my spirit.
How did He do that?
Well, I had a dream the previous night about needing to get Oraia on the show. The dream was so vivid, in fact, that I thought I had actually had a conversation with Kenya about Oraia Speaks. In my dream, I really wanted to speak to her, but Damita Haddon had already been booked for that time slot.
Wow, right?
When I awoke, I had no idea Damita’s interview would fall through and Oraia would step in. Looking retrospectively, however, I can clearly see that God was using my dream to prepare me for what would happen yesterday. He was giving me instructions so I would know just the person He wanted me to talk to.
Oraia blessed our souls on CROSS CULTURE IN HD. God wanted her to occupy that space. It was her moment to be heard and I felt the power of the Holy Spirit during our discussion.
God is so amazing! He’s sovereign.
When our plans look like they’re falling apart, oftentimes, God is allowing these things to happen so His purpose can be carried out. He’ll let some stuff get torn up so He can put it back together, better, stronger, and more effective.
Even though we don’t know the end from the beginning, we serve an omniscient God who does.
That’s why I want to encourage you today. What looks to you like a setback, when you’re giving your all to God, is just a setup. When you feel a little out of step with things, know that your steps are being ordered by the Lord.
So don’t get too attached to your plans. Don’t get married to your personal agenda and end up missing God’s divine agenda. Let go and let God have His way! To remind you to do this, I’m stirring one of my favorite and oft-quoted scriptures, Proverbs 19:21 NIV into your cup of inspiration. It says, “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you’ll be reminded that God has you on a set path. You don’t get to choose your own way. Although you may have your heart set on treading a certain road to reach your destination, be prepared for a divinely orchestrated turnabout. Be willing to lay down your plans. Place them at the Master’s feet.
When you do, He’ll take you on a journey that leads you right to your place of destiny.
Now let’s pray.
Father, I thank You that I can always trust You to work things out for my good. Even when things seem to be spiraling out of control, I praise You for reminding me that You are always in control. So today, I voluntarily hand over the reins to You and say have Your way God! I lay down my own plans and totally submit to Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
