I was having a productive meeting with my gifted and creative staff. I'm thankful for those who work with me to help bring the vision God has given me to fruition. Because they understand my heart and share my focus, when we get together, the ideas typically flow effortlessly and the atmosphere is always charged with excitement.
I love that…and them.
So, the other day, we strategized about an event we’re planning. We prayed first, as always, and then began tossing around suggestions—really great ones. Everyone was on the same page. We were jotting things down, making to-do lists, and coming up with plans for execution.
It was a lengthy session, but by the time it was over, we were all pleased with the progress we’d made.
But hours after our meeting, for some reason, I didn’t have peace in my heart. I couldn’t figure out why, though. Nothing had gone wrong. Everyone was happy during our creative session. Things seemed to be falling into place.
And yet, there was this nagging in my spirit.
Uh oh, I thought.
I knew what that meant.
The Lord wanted to me to lay those plans down at his feet so He could talk to me. Immediately, I had an inkling God was getting ready to totally shift my direction and give me renewed clarity.
Without hesitation, I stopped everything I was doing and spent time praying, seeking God’s word, and waiting for Him to speak to me.
And speak he did.
By the time the Lord was finished, the original plan looked nothing like what my staff and I had laid out. The purpose, players, and process were all rearranged. God had gotten a hold of my plans, torn them up, and put them back together again His way.
That’s just how God works.
Sometimes we’ll think we know the best path or course of action to take. But God’s ways are not like ours and His plans aren’t either. That’s why today, I’m adding Proverbs 19:21 NIV into your cup of inspiration. It’s one of my favorite scriptures and I reference it often. It says, “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you, like me, will be reminded that your plans are merely ideas unless they are sanctioned by God. Until He gives His stamp of approval, nothing is set in stone.
So lay your plans at His feet.
Submit to God. Yield to His will. Be still. Ask Him to reveal His divine purpose.
And when He does, don’t veer away from it, because is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Everything else will fail.
Lord, thank You for reminding me that my life and plans are not mine. They are Yours, oh God. So, before I make a move, please help me acknowledge You first. Teach me to invoke Your presence that brings clarity and guidance. And right now, with a submitted heart, I take my plans and lay them down at Your feet. I will not move without Your leading and whatever You say, my answer will be yes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
