Perhaps it is because my 35th birthday is around the corner that I feel so introspective lately Daily Cup family. I’m not quite sure why, but I have been thinking a lot about me, growing, maturing, and continuing to come into my own.
I guess I sort of feel like a metaphorical flower gradually opening up and blossoming in the light of the radiant sun. For me, it is the light of the Son, Jesus Christ, that is developing me into the woman God fashioned after His own image.
Where I was once closed off and underdeveloped, I see God opening me up and helping me to flourish. To illustrate my point, I’ve posted a brief video of a flower blooming below. Just take a minute to watch it bloom and then, think about yourself and how you're blooming.
Isn’t that fascinating to watch?
I find that, the more I bloom and the more that gradual maturation process takes effect, the more I change for the better.
With blooming comes more respect for myself and my needs; less desire to please and appease everyone else; better understanding of my personality, dreams, and goals; clearer priorities and understanding of the importance of making time for me, so that I can be renewed physically, mentally, and spiritually; less hurry to be at everyone else’s beck and call; and more hours devoted to the Lord, my family, and once again, myself.
What does blooming mean for you? Really think about it.
Personally, I even see a more confident me emerging. And it is not like that pseudo or false confidence based on any outward or tangible thing. But it is the intangible, internal, indescribable, and supernatural joy, peace, and wholeness that helps me embrace who I am and make no apologies for it.
I’m blooming and it feels amazing.
And so are you.
So don’t fight it. If you do, you'll stifle your happiness and the work God is doing in you.
Let God do what He wants to do. Let Him take you where He wants you to go. Let Him make you into who He wants you to be.
Just do what I'm doing and continue to submit to God's will everyday. That's all you have to do is be obedient. That's it. There's no magic formula.
You see, I believe when you say yes to what God is doing in you by submitting to His word, you’ll begin to bloom where you’re planted—wherever that may be. Before anyone else may even be able to detect a hint of change, you’ll feel different from within. And because of that, that difference will begin manifesting on the outside.
With that said, I want to stir Psalm 92:12-13 NIV into your cup of inspiration. The scripture says, “The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you’ll be reminded that God wants to see you flourish, bloom, and thrive. His will is for you to grow and develop into a vessel of honor: secure, whole, beautiful, mature, empowered.
Right now, God is with you, nurturing you, watering you, and showering you with His light and love so that you will spring up as a testimony of His goodness and glory. No matter who you are or what stage of growth and development you’re in, if you stay connected to Christ, you'll blossom into a beautiful vessel of honor.
Just like the breathtaking beauty of a rose in full bloom, God wants us to bloom into magnificent pictures of glorious beauty. Remember what Ephesians 2:10 NIV says: "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Lord, thank You for the work You're doing in me. I praise You for the positive changes I see everyday and for how You are molding me into the person You want me to be. Please help me continually yield to the process and never be afraid to bloom, flourish, and evolve into a better woman than I ever imagined I could be. Thank You for patiently loving me and developing me. I am surrendered to You forever. In Jesus' name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
