Yesterday I told you how my my husband, Kenya, and I discovered that we had a gas leak in our basement pipes. Well, when the repairman from Roto-Rooter came out to rectify the situation, he found several more leaks the gas company didn't detect initially. At first, he was going to try to repair all of the leaks, but then, a discovery changed his mind.
After investigating the piping system, the young friendly repairman told us that several of the pipes weren't connected to anything at all. They were damaged, leaking gas, and essentially, good-for-nothing. He explained that wasting time, money, and energy on fixing useless pipes, made no sense. We needed to have them removed instead.
And we did.
Problem solved, thank God!
Sometimes, we have extraneous people and things attached to us, thus leading to unnecessary issues. That's why there are seasons of pruning in our lives, when God steps in and does some much-needed cutting away, separating, and removing. He knows that it makes no sense for me and you to hold onto folks and stuff that add nothing to us, and deplete our energy in the end.
In 2011, just like the old piping system in the basement had to be removed, there are some things we all need to take out, in order to start this year off right. It's time to sort through our associations, activities, and tasks, and determine their purpose in our lives. If we find that we are constantly "leaking gas," losing energy, rest, joy, and peace, trying to hold onto unfruitful things, it may be time for an extraction. The Bible says in John 15:2, "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away..."
In light of the fact that God sees fruitfulness as a prerequisite for authentic fellowship and communion with Him, shouldn't we?
I encourage you to seek the Lord. Ask Him to reveal anything connected to you in 2011 that may be holding you back, and hindering your progress. Only He can show you, because if you lean to your own understanding, you may act rashly. But, if you draw nigh to God, He will give you clear revelation of His will.
It's time for you to move forward unencumbered this year.
TODAYS' PRAYER: God, I come before you today humbly asking you to take charge of everything concerning me. Lord, if there are any associations and connections in my life that act as hindrances to the purpose and destiny You have preordained for me, take them away. I want to be in Your will God. And I want to be in position to receive all You have in store for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
