While many of us are excited about the holidays—Thanksgiving and Christmas are all about love, giving, and sharing special time with family—there are many people going through tough times. Job loss, death of loved ones, foreclosure, health challenges, and all kinds of personal struggles are plaguing lots of families. This season, we want to make sure we’re remembering them and praying God’s peace and comfort over their lives.
Please join me in praying for the individuals who sent “prayer mail” to me to be included on our “Thoughtful Thursdays” list. Feel free to send your request to [email protected].
1. Nicole Burruss wrote, “Dianna I lost my aunt who raised me. She was taken away by breast cancer a few weeks ago and I’ve never been without her around the holidays. This is a very sad year for me and I just need God’s strength to sustain me. Please pray for me. Thank you.”
2. Charles wrote, “Dear Dianna, I’m writing this request on behalf of my mother Rose. She lost her job as a school teacher and can’t find work. For more than 25 years she has taught at the same school so as you can imagine, she is devastated right now. She’s 65 years old and is having trouble competing with the younger teachers in the work place. She isn’t ready to retire and because she is still so full of life I don’t think mom should be forced into doing that right now. Please pray for a new opportunity for her.”
3. Janet wrote, “My husband and I are begging God to send help. We are on the verge of losing the new home we just bought 3 years ago. My husband Rick injured his back at work but doctors don’t know what’s wrong and have cut off his benefits. My job doesn’t pay very much and we are caring for my ailing mother. I need a better job. I have a degree in Social Work and can’t seem to find anything.”
4. Kelly Mitchell wrote, “I love your blog so much. I always find something here to encourage me. If you could pray for my Uncle Jack who has been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer I would appreciate it. We know he is not going to survive for much longer, but he has not yet given his heart to the Lord and I don’t want to see him slip away from this world without making things right with God. Please help me pray for my uncle’s salvation.”
5. A woman who wishes to remain anonymous wrote, “I am pregnant with my third child. My husband is happy about it but I am depressed because I know we cannot afford another baby. We are already struggling just to keep up with the bills. I feel overwhelming guilt about my unhappiness. I know children are a blessing and I should be thanking God, but I’m scared to death about what the future will hold if our finances don’t increase before the new baby arrives. I’m asking prayer for strength, peace, and a financial breakthrough for my family.
Today’s Prayer: Lord, times are hard for many people. Whether they are dealing with emotional, financial, physical, or some other kind of struggle, You are able to provide for their needs. I humbly ask on their behalf, that You will intervene and work things out according to Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
