I love this saying: “Let prayer be your first response, not your last resort.” When you’re going through hard times it’s easy to look for answers and solutions everywhere else but from the Lord who created both me and you. Everyday, steal away and talk to God. No one can dictate the length of time, place, or even what you talk to Him about.
Just make sure you’re in regular communication with the Father. I ask that you please join me in praying on behalf of these individuals on our Thoughtful Thursday’s list today.
1. Stephanie Coleman writes, “Dianna I am having surgery today to have fibroid tumors removed from my uterus. They cause me so much pain and discomfort and I want to be free of this issue. Please pray for a safe surgery and full recovery with no damage to my uterus. I want to have children someday.”
2. LaTaundra Whitfield writes, “Dianna I want to thank you for this blog. The words God speaks through you have really changed my life and gotten me on the right path. But my 17 year old daughter Dominique has really lost her way. She has been in and out of Juvenile Detention for years and now she just recently got busted for selling marijuana. I have made some mistakes in my life with my addiction and her father is in jail so she didn’t really have the proper role models. Now that I’m clean and have a steady job, I see so much of my old self in her. I need God to get to her because I don’t know how. Thank you for praying.”
3. Maria writes, “As a third year law student at Columbia I have been dealing with so much pressure this year. My mother Carol was diagnosed with breast cancer and the treatment is not going well. My mind has been on her failing health so much that I’m having trouble focusing on my academic studies. I just need you and the Daily Cup family to pray for my mother’s healing and for my focus in school. I’m so close to finishing. I don’t want to lose my educational opportunities and I don’t want to lose my mother either.”
4. A woman who wishes to be called “Tee” writes, “Dear Dianna, about a year ago you prayed for one of my cousins who was going through some personal issues and God has really turned her life around since then. I have been reading this blog for a while but I never wrote in for prayer. My husband has been laid off his job of 23 years as an engineer and has slipped into depression. I have never seen him like this. He’s not going to church with me anymore and feels like God let him down. I want to see him snap out of this depressive state and realize that life is not over. This is just a setback.”
5. Cathy Hickling writes, “God laid it on me a couple of years back to start a youth ministry in my local church. I have awesome support from my pastor and ministry team but I see a big decline in the attendance, and an increase in the number of young girls having children, and young men being locked up. I feel discouraged, as if I am failing in the area I’m called to. I need God to show me what can be done as I serve inner city youth who come from mostly broken homes in drug infested neighborhoods. I know God is able to direct me, but I am really discouraged today.”
Today’s Prayer: Father, thank You for the honor and privilege to pray for those who love and trust You as their source. For everyone listed here today, I ask that You give them peace, comfort, and assurance that everything will be alright. Please intervene in their situations according to Your will and work things out the way only You can. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
