I was talking to my younger sister, Shante, yesterday. We chatted about a few things, but one thing in particular stuck out for me. She told me about how she used to wonder what she had to offer God.
For a while, Shante had trouble identifying what specifically in her life the Lord wanted to use to make a difference in the world. She wasn’t certain about which gifts, talents, or abilities could be useful to Him.
Although God would often place it on Shante’s heart to pray for others, she didn’t think anything much of it. For a long time, she didn’t realize she was called to be an intercessor—one who consistently prays to God on behalf of others. Now she knows the value of that gift and how important she is to the Kingdom.
As I sat listening to her I was thankful for the revelation of purpose God gave to her—not only for her sake, but for the sake of all those who are blessed by her obedience to God’s calling on her life. I know personally what a blessing it is when Shante calls me up and says, “I’ve been praying for you. The Lord laid you on my heart.”
Those prayers have been right on time and so helpful to me as I strive to do what God has called me to do! I’m grateful that, today, Shante understands her call and purpose. But there are so many people who do not.
Perhaps you struggle in this area. You may feel insignificant and unsure of how you matter in the grand scheme of things. If so, this blog post is for you. I want you to know how much you matter to God; how much you are needed in the Kingdom; and what a huge impact you make on the lives of all the people you touch.
Today’s Prayer: God, I know You have a purpose and plan for my life. But everyday I don’t feel significant. Honestly, I’m not always sure of what I have that You want to use. Please give me a revelation of purpose, by helping me discover what You have placed in me that You want me to offer back to You for the benefit of Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
