"Let us hold fast the profession of [our] faith without wavering; (for he [is] faithful that promised;)" ~Hebrews 10:23
The two boys ate cake and had a blast, laughing and talking... until gift-giving time rolled around.
"But we wanted bikes," Kaleb said with a disappointed look as his 7 year old brother, Kedar, opened up his birthday presents.
We? I thought. Bikes?
I was somewhat confused, because 4-year-old Kaleb's big bro never even asked for a bike. And I didn't quite understand exactly how he came up with the idea that he would be the recipient of a shiny new three-wheeler on Kedar's birthday.
For some reason, he didn't recognize that it wasn't his time to receive gifts yet. All he knew is that Mommy and Daddy were giving away toys, and he had put in his bid, even if only in his mind.
But Kaleb's birthday isn't until March, so he's a bit premature. Yet, when his time comes, he'll get exactly what he desires to have.
Similarly, as we go through this journey called life, there will be seasons when we watch others enjoy manifestation as they receive the desires of their heart. While all this goes on, our desires will remain unmet... but only for a while.
As I always say, delay is not denial.
Just because this is not your moment to receive the rewards, results, and residual benefits you're hoping for, doesn't mean all is lost. You see, we all have a set time. There's nothing we can do to change that. And we may as well rejoice with others while we wait on our "birthday" where we give birth to the promise we've been carrying around in our womb.
Just as Kaleb has to wait until March rolls around before he'll see that new bike he wants, you and I have to be patient as well. We must remind ourselves that the one who promised is faithful to fulfill every word spoken over our lives.
So don't be discouraged today. Your change will come right on time.
Today's Prayer: Lord, I thank you for reminding me that delay is not denial. And even though I may want everything to happen right away, I know your timing is best. In Jesus' name, Amen.
