So, instead of traipsing back up the stairs to get it (What I should have done), I decided to use something a bit less reliable to help hold me up. Before I even mounted the flimsy wooden stump, I knew there was a good chance it wasn't strong enough.
But hey, I was hoping.
Well, hope didn't stop it from collapsing under me. And hope certainly didn't prevent me from banging my knee as I came tumbling down. I knew better than to stand on a shaky foundation like that. Thankfully, I didn't sustain any major injury, but I won't be doing that again!
As I rubbed my left knee, which was throbbing dully, that slight pain served as a great lesson... the strength of the foundation upon which we stand determines the heights we'll attain in life. Always remember that.
Your foundation determines your elevation. You can't build your house on the sand and expect to survive adversity (See Matthew 7:24-27).
Unfortunately, many do that everyday. They have placed their belief and trust in wrong theories, warped ideologies, worldly perspectives, and even selfish motives. Their actions are tantamount to climbing up a broken ladder, expecting it to support them. Then they are surprised when, like London Bridge, it all comes tumbling down.
But there's good news. Life doesn't have to be that way when our hope is built upon Christ, the Solid Rock. When we stand on His word, He never lets us down.
Today, know that the fulfillment of your destiny is all in God's hands. Trust in Him. He'll surely hold you up and elevate you to the place you've been predestined to go.
I'm reminded of the song that says, "My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness..." Then there's another part I like so much that says, "On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand..."
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
