I'm reminded of the scripture found in Psalm 42:5 that says, "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me?
hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his
countenance" (KJV).
In other words, put your faith, trust, and confidence in God and give Him glory, because He is your help, your savior, and the lifter up of your head.
Keeping this powerful scripture in mind today, as you join me in praying for these individuals on our Thoughtful Thursdays list today:
1. LaKeisha Rainey-Collins and her family are grieving. LaKeisha's 18 year old cousin passed away due to heart failure and right after, another
cousin had to be rushed to the hospital because he stopped breathing, and was pronounced brain dead. The plug had to be pulled and there is a double funeral this Saturday. I'm asking that you hold the family up in prayer at such a difficult time. Also, we're asking God to draw the unbelieving family members into a relationship with Him.
2. A woman who wishes to be referred to as "SEC" who is on the verge of becoming a licensed physical therapist, needs our prayers. Her licensing examination is next Friday and SEC is concerned about it, because she has not passed the exam in the past, even after several attempts. But she's not giving up. "I am convinced this is the purpose God has for my life because I get such a satisfaction from being able to touch lives through various forms of rehabilitation," she says. "So it is my prayer that God will cover me when I test next week and give me the strength and knowledge to PASS this exam and move into my destiny." We're asking God to give her favor in Jesus' name.
3. A woman named Shannon feels like she is at the point of having a nervous breakdown and needs the Daily Cup Family to hold her up in prayer. She writes, "I just lost my home and I have been out of work for almost a year. After 15 years of being on my own, I've been forced to move me and my two teenage sons in with my elderly parents and it's all too much for me. I feel like my mind is going to just snap. I'm embarrassed and devastated and the boys are miserable. Please pray for me!" We believe that God is going to preserve Shannon's emotional and mental stability through it all; we know He is more than able to turn this situation around.
4. Tanya Wyatt lost her father a year ago and while she has accepted the loss and is moving forward, her 56 year old mom, Shirlene, is deteriorating. "She doesn't want to eat. She is always depressed and says she doesn't have any reason to live. I have never seen my mother like this and it frightens me," Tanya says. "I need everyone to ask God to heal my mom's pain so she will know that she still has a reason to go on. She has 5 children and 6 grandchildren who love her very much." Today, please join me in praying for Shirlene that the God of all comfort would strengthen and give her peace. We know the Lord is a healer of all wounds, whether physical, spiritual, mental, or emotional.
5. A man who wishes to remain anonymous is requesting prayer for his marriage. He and his wife are on the verge of divorce. "Without getting too personal I'll just say my wife has 'other interests' right now and says she is no longer in love with me," he writes. "I have cried and prayed, because I love this woman and I don't want to lose her. I can't let it go." Today, we're asking God to intervene in that relationship. He knows what's going on and exactly how to repair the breach between this man and wife of 7 years. We know that God is a restorer.
For those of you reading this right now, I thank you in advance for being a part of the Daily Cup prayer family. God is truly, truly making a difference in people's lives. If you need prayer, don't hesitate to get it, because there is power in prayer!
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
