Last evening, I felt sleep come down on me hard. I was up late the night before and never shook off that sleepiness. "I'm so tired," I yawned and told my husband. Next thing I knew, I was waking up from about a three minute nap my body involuntarily took. The "Sandman" accosted me and before I even realized it, I had dropped off to sleep.
When you get tired, (I'm talking about good and tired), your body will just shut down on you. You know those times when "the TV ends up watching you" because you couldn't stay awake? It's hard to fight sleep when you physically get worn down. The body needs to repair and replenish, and sleep is the way it achieves this.
When it comes to our walk with God, however, we don't handle "tiredness" the same way.
Though it might be tempting to "shut down" and give over to strong feelings of fatigue and weariness, we don't have to. Once we tap into our connection with God, you and I get renewed strength by seeking His face. He is the One who keeps us through it all.
If it wasn't for the Lord on our side, we would completely break down and give up. We would be powerless to combat those overwhelming feelings that make us want to wave the white flag.
But thanks be to God who strengthens and empowers us. He never leaves you and me alone. Because of Him, when we get tired, instead of going into "shutdown" mode, we call to mind the scripture that says: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1, 2 KJV)."
Aren't you glad God is with you through those dark seasons when you get tired? Let's face it; we all have them. The good news is, they don't have to have us. We don't ever have to give in or quit, because God is with us every step of the way.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
