Each night, in the Hobbs household, we all say grace together before we eat. Every once in a while, I'll catch my youngest son, Kaleb, watching me, his dad, or his other siblings. He'll compare his "prayer posture" to others and make sure he's clasping his hands together just right.
It's so cute.
Just as all the children have, little Kaleb is learning about prayer by watching the rest of us pray in the home and I love that. But, prayer time isn't just reserved for mealtime or bedtime. Jesus said, we ought always pray (Luke 18:1).
Today, we're continuing to pray for those on our Thoughtful Thursdays list who have poured out their hearts and petitions, believing God to do the work. Please join me in interceding for the following people:
1. A woman who wishes to remain anonymous, is getting married at the end of the month. She and her fiancee, who have been in a long distance relationship for two years, are so happy together and excited about beginning their lives as husband and wife. But, there's a little snag. She has a great job in the city she's currently located in, but cannot find employment in the city her husband-to-be lives in, which is where she's relocating to. Unable to sacrifice her salary, if she doesn't find a job before her nuptials, the newlyweds will be forced to live in different cities until the job situation is rectified.
2. A young woman named Latisha is pregnant with her second child. She and her husband are ecstatic about it, but they received news from the doctor that she needs to go on bed rest, or else, she will likely miscarry. Latisha, who just started a new great paying job two weeks ago, after being laid off for a full year, cannot afford to quit and feels torn. She is asking God to guide her and also, protect her unborn child, and work this whole situation out in their favor.
3. A couple, that shall remain nameless, is going through a divorce after sixteen years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. The wife is destroyed over what has occurred and wants to work it out, but her husband does not. She's requesting that God will give her peace and strength to endure this hard transition. She has been having thoughts of suicide that are growing stronger by the day.
4. A single mother named Karen is praying for her 15-year-old adopted daughter, Erica. After taking the young teen, who had been periodically sick for the past 2 months, for a checkup, she discovered that Erica is 3 months pregnant. This distressed mom is already struggling to make ends meet, and has been having a difficult time with Erica's rebellion. She's asking God for strength to deal with the challenges of parenting, because she's tempted to give up.
5. Finally, we're seeking God for a young man named Daniel, who wrote into the Daily Cup about his mom, Vera. Exactly 4 months ago, Vera lost her own mother and best friend, Hattie, to Cancer. She has been having a difficult time with it and blames God for not healing her mother. Daniel says that, even though he knows she is grieving, his mother introduced him to Christ. Seeing her like this is shaking his faith and he doesn't understand how to cope with this transition his mother is going through. He's praying for strengthening of his faith and healing of his mother's deep hurt and resentment toward God.
Thank you in advance for praying with me. If you would like to submit a prayer request, feel free to do so.
