My husband Kenya used to run cross country back in High School, where he was one of the fastest. When we began dating 15 years ago, in 1995, I noticed that his mother had collected all--and I do mean all--his trophies, medals and other awards and designated a special place in the house for them. It was like a "shrine" to Kenya, celebrating his notable achievements in track and field.
She kept them all until she recently passed away.
Well, after he graduated, Kenya didn't pursue running any further... just an occasional sprint here and there. Then, once we were married and the kids came along, our schedules got busier, and he pretty much quit that activity altogether. But, the other day, he said he wanted to start up again and recondition his body.
He meant it too, because that same afternoon, he went and purchased some running shoes. Then, on the following day, he got up early in the morning and went for a brisk run. Although Kenya hadn't done it in years, he told me, "At first it was rough babe, but then, something clicked and I got my stride." Once that happened, his breathing regulated and he was good to go.
I told him how great I thought that was for him to make up in his mind to do something and then, follow through on it, no matter how long it had been since he'd done it.
That got me to thinking. We all, just like Kenya, have the ability to pick up where we left off. We can act on our convictions and do what we feel called to do, even if we've been "out of commission" for quite some time.
Whether it's been days, weeks, months, or years since you've revisited that thing you believe God has chosen you to do; it's never too late to start fresh.
As I reminded you yesterday, you've got to do what God has instructed you to do in life. It's as simple as deciding to do it and then taking steps in that direction. Sure, you may feel a little rusty, unprepared, or even fearful at first. But, if you begin putting one foot in front of the other, you'll get your stride back.
It'll come to you once again. In fact, believe it or not, you never lost it. You've simply been on hiatus for a while. It's just like riding a bike. You never forget how; you simply have to find that motivation, inspiration and determination to dig deep and do what you know you should be doing. This can apply to any number of things, but only you know what you've abandoned, that God is challenging you to revisit.
Today, I want to encourage you not to be afraid to pick up where you left off. Go ahead and dust those cobwebs off your divine assignment and fulfill your destiny. God will give you all the strength, provision, and courage it takes, to do what may seem much too hard right now.
Remember that, through Christ, all things are possible (Philippians 4:13).
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
