My mom gives the absolute best hugs! I posted a picture of her here (even though it's a litttle fuzzy), so you can see that bright smile she always has waiting for me every single time I see her. It doesn't matter what time of day or night it is, she's always sweet, consistent, and warm.
Well, the other day, I had so much running to do and lots of things piling up on my plate. I was so tired... not just physically, but mentally also. Ever had one of those times when your mind was just working overtime and you needed a mental break?
That was me.
In the middle of running errands, I decided to make a quick stop by my mom's house. When I saw her, I told her, "Mom, I just need a hug." With no questions asked, she stretched her arms wide and with that same smile you see on her face in the image above, she gave me one of those "magical hugs" that instantly makes me feel better every time.
After she released me, I breathed a sigh of relief and flashed a big smile. "Thanks mom," I said. "That's just what I needed." I knew she was more than happy to be there for me in that moment; but it was up to me to tell her I needed an embrace.
It works the same way with God. He loves being there for us when we feel overwhelmed and burdened with the cares of life. All we have to do is cry out to Him in our distress. I'm so glad He loves you and me so much, that He'll hold, comfort, and keep us whenever we run into His arms.
You know, sometimes, when life gets hectic, all we need is an embrace. Just one touch from God makes everything better. So, if you haven't taken a moment to slow down and let the Lord hold you in a little while, do that today. You'll feel so much better.
Get lost in worship. Pour your heart out to Him. Nothing can compare to the healing, deliverance, and freedom you'll find in His presence. "...In your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are
pleasures for ever more" (Psalm 16:11).
Let God hold you; minister to you; and cradle you in His arms and you'll say as the old song says, "Can't nobody do me like Jesus." Again, my mother, whom I love dearly, gives the warmest embraces. But still, there's simply no substitute for the embrace that comes from our heavenly father.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
