Yesterday I got a knife jammed inside the garbage disposal in the kitchen sink. I tried and tried, but couldn't get it out. After yanking and tugging at it for what felt like forever, I was convinced it wasn't gonna dislodge. But then, I got a wrench and tightened it around the knife.
With a firm grasp and a steady hand, I went back at it again. The wrench gripped that piece of silverware much more tightly than I was able to with my bare hand. So, I concentrated and took my time wriggling the stuck knife around. To my relief, out popped that silver butter knife just minutes after I got a grip on it with the wrench.
All I needed was a little reinforcement and something stronger than me to get a handle on that thing.
Ever been in a jam? I mean, a real jam...where you didn't know how in the world to get "un-stuck"? Well, if you've ever really and truly been stuck "between a rock and a hard place," you know how frustrating it can be trying to break free.
No matter how hard you work to fix things, on your own, you can't get beyond the situation, circumstance, or ordeal that has a tight hold on you. But there's good news.
God has the power to help you get a grip on things and break free from any bondage in your life. Unlike me and you, He has the strength and might to rescue, deliver and set us free from whatever has us locked up, tied up, and bound up.
Whether we feel "stuck" in our emotions, finances, relationships, personal pursuits, or some other area, we need only cry out to God and He'll pull us up and out of that bondage. Then we'll be able to say what David said: "I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps" (Psalm 40:1, 2).
Aren't you glad you can call on the name of the Lord in the midst of trouble?
Today, I encourage you to totally lean and depend upon the Father. Don't be discouraged if the stubborn circumstance you're facing seems impossible to resolve, because what you cannot do in your own strength, can be accomplished with the Lord on your side.
It might be too hard for you, oh but, there's nothing too hard for God.
No matter what the issue is, you can get a grip on it by turning it over to Him and recognizing that your freedom, breakthrough, and deliverance will come, "'Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit,' says the Lord" (Zechariah 4:6).
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
