Just the other day, I was working on a tedious ministry-related project. During the course of trying to get it done, I just felt myself getting worn out and losing interest in it. You know how that can be. My mind began wandering and I really wanted to just quit. Then, the Holy Spirit placed the scripture found in Colossians 3:23 in my heart.
It says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." (NIV)
Although the work didn't get any easier, immediately, my mind and attitude transformed. I realized that, by carrying out the task, even though every part of me wanted to give up, I would be bringing glory to God.
So today, I just want to pass this valuable lesson along, since it helped me so much.
Perhaps you're confronting a difficult situation that you don't really want to face head on. You honestly and truly don't feel like dealing with it. But ask yourself, "Does bailing on this bring God glory? Would I be destroying a golden opportunity for God to use my life to draw someone else closer to Him? Would I be walking away from the opportunity for Him to use me as an example?"
After asking yourself those questions, if you know that God is leading you down a particular path, even if it's not an easy one, walk on anyhow. Even when you find it difficult to muster up the strength, don't wave the white flag of surrender. Do it for the Lord. He'll bless, empower and favor you. I know He will, because He's done it for me so many times before.
So go ahead, let Him get glory out of your life.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
