Whoever first said that "two heads are better than one," might have retracted that statement after seeing the two of us in action last night. It was pitiful. We were totally lost... I mean "bird-chirping... deer-in-headlights" kind of lost.
Clueless.
Neither of us could make sense of this issue. As the hours rolled by, I grew more mentally and physically exhausted. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I called it quits. I said, "Lord, I've done all I can do and if you don't help me, I just won't be helped."
With that, I packed it in for the evening, resolved not to spend another ounce of energy toiling over that project. Sometimes, you have to do the very same thing. When situations arise in your life and you don't know what your next move should be, you've got to learn to step away from things. Tell the Lord, "If you don't help me, I just won't be helped."
Then, rest in Him, knowing that when problems overtake you, that's when God takes over.
He won't leave you out there all alone. "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). No matter how overwhelming things get, you're not by yourself. Your answers may not come right away, but surely, they will come.
Although the problem I encountered was surrounding a challenging business project, your situation might be more serious, deeply personal, and even painful. But God is still there. He yet loves you. He sees, cares and knows all about your heartaches, hardships, and heartbreaks.
And the Father wants to help you. All you have to do is cry out to Him in your time of need. He will comfort you and come to your rescue. I'm reminded of one of my favorite scriptures that reads, "I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him will I trust" (Psalm 91:2).
Trust Him to be your help, even when you feel helpless. The Lord will come through for you. I know He will!
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
