Then something dawned on me...
I headed straight downstairs to check the thermostat. Lo and behold, the heat was cranked all the way up to nearly 70 degrees. No wonder we were all burning up! Apparently, I had turned the heat up to "knock the chill off" that morning, but it was only supposed to be on for a brief span of time. I forgot to turn it off.
It felt like a sauna in the house.
Now that it's finally warming up (although the temperatures still dip pretty low at night), I have to recondition my mind for the change of weather that comes along with the new season. The warmth of Spring has arrived, but I've gotten quite used to the frigid temperatures and the need to bundle up over the long Winter months. I guess I just didn't expect it to warm up so fast, especially not in Buffalo.
It usually stays chilly a lot longer than this, so I wasn't really anticipating a drastic change in the weather any time soon.
Similarly, in life, when an unpleasant season lasts a long time, we can subconsciously grow accustomed to it. If we're not careful, we'll become indifferent and settle into that season, with no real hope of transitioning out of it.
The Lord doesn't want us to settle. He wants us to adopt an optimistic outlook that says, no matter how long these tough and unpleasant circumstances last, and despite the fact that these old troubles just wont seem to go away, I still believe a new day will indeed spring forth.
Are you still believing for that new day? Or have you adjusted to the difficult season and stopped expecting anything to change?
Today, this post comes to remind you to look ahead with faith and expectation of greater things to come. I don't care how long you've been waiting for "Spring" to come and birth new things in your life, don't stop believing! Continue to hold onto your faith.
Tell yourself, "No matter what's going on in my life right now, the season will change." Just as Jesus went to the cross at Calvary, died, and rose again on the third day, He has the power to resurrect those areas of your life that seem dead and beyond repair.
That's something to get excited about.
The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives on the inside of you. Because of that, you have victory through His blood. As we celebrate Easter, I want you to also celebrate a new season. Allow your faith to be reignited and your expectation of a resurrection in your own life to be awakened in you.
I see a new day. Embrace it and celebrate it.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
