My three year old, Kaleb, has this new thing he's been doing for the past several weeks. Whenever I tell him to do something he'd rather not do, he invents an imaginary ailment to weasel his way out of it. I've never met a three year old with so many mysterious headaches, achy joints, and pains. When he doesn't want to finish eating his meals, Kaleb develops a stomach ache out of the blue. If I tell him to pick up his toys, suddenly his hands hurt, or they're "ty-ode" (tired).
My favorite one of all time? The feigned limp accompanied by a bogus claim of debilitating leg pain that always seems to disappear once Kaleb realizes I'm not relenting. Then he forgets all about his phantom condition that, just moments ago, severely limited his mobility.
Of course I always tell Kaleb the importance of honesty. I also refuse to cave in just because he doesn't want to obey. I don't believe in that democratic style of parenting where laws in the house are enforced or amended based upon what the children do or do not wish to do.
No ma'am.
It doesn't work that way in the Hobbs house, nor does it work that way in God's Kingdom. When there is an assignment we've been given to do, whether we feel like it or not, God expects us to be obedient.
He needs to be able to trust us to submit to His will, even during the times we'd much rather walk away... and trust me, there will be those times. Instead of conjuring up excuses and coming up with justifications for our own apathy, we have to side with God against ourselves. We must tell our flesh no and tell God yes.
Today, I encourage you to do your assignment and be ever mindful of the fact that, your submission to God cannot be contingent upon feelings. As I always say, feelings frequently fluctuate. You cannot trust your emotions, because they're too unstable.
You have to be guided by your convictions and maintain an open willingness to do what the Lord says do, no matter how you feel about it at that moment.
Listen. I know everyday isn't easy when you live your divine purpose and do your Kingdom assignment. The storms of life no doubt come against you and the "weather conditions" aren't always conducive to what you've been called to do.
I understand that.
But do your assignment anyway... and watch God give you the supernatural strength you need to carry out His will.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
