I was praying today and the Lord shared something with me that I, in turn, want to share with you. He began dealing with me about the importance of never letting my passion for Him subside. As I go through life-- no matter what I encounter, I have to remember to keep my love for Him pure.
It's easy to get side-tracked and distracted by life. There are so many things that compete for our attention: Business, career, educational pursuits, and various other pressures of life. We must be ever so careful lest we find ourselves lost in the "business of life," while forgetting about "our Father's business."
Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:19, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (NKJV)
We have to begin asking ourselves where our treasure is. Where does our true passion lie? What do we most value in our lives? Have we allowed other things to rob us of our relationship with the Father? Are we too caught up in temporal things, without cultivating our fellowship with the Lord?
We have to stop and do self-evaluations sometimes. I know this is a serious post, but sometimes we need to still ourselves and steal away. We have to spend more time in the presence of the Lord.
When is the last time you lost yourself in His presence? Can you recall the last time you shut everything and everybody else out and just worshipped God?
The Lord is challenging us to get real with ourselves. We need to refocus on the things that matter most. We must assess whether we're walking along the path God has chosen for us. Jesus says, "...narrow is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it" (Matthew 7:14 NKJV).
Our passion and fervor for the things of God must never die. It's easy to get preoccupied with fulfilling our dreams and forget to spend time with the Dream-giver. It's time for us all to get in God's face. He promises that if we draw near to Him, He'll draw near to us.
He's beckoning you and me to come closer to Him.
There are some things you've been going through, that you've been trying to handle on your own. And God is saying, it wouldn't be so hard if you would learn to lean on me again. He's asking, "What happened to your passion for Me? You used to spend time with Me. Why don't you talk to me the way you used to? I want to hold you. I want to love you. I want to be your rock. I want to commune with you..."
Can't you sense His presence? All He wants is fellowship. There's freedom in fellowship with the Father. No matter where we go or what we gain in life, if we don't have Jesus, we have nothing.
Until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
