What you're going through right now is for a reason and a season. God is teaching you a very valuable characteristic; it's called patience. Not many people like to talk about patience, after all, most of us don't like to wait. We want what we want, when we want it, where we want it, and how we want it.
We don't wish to hear about "long-suffering." We like instant gratification. But what we must realize is that, life's most valuable lessons come only with time and experience. Unfortunately, our "hurry up mentality" creates an aversion to waiting. We think life is somehow passing us by, or that we're missing out on something. We want to expedite our process.
Usually, our best efforts don't turn out well. We end up making a mess. Have you ever jumped ahead of God's timing and got yourself caught up in a bad situation? Perhaps you had good intentions, but ended up "jumping the gun." It only made matters worse, didn't it?
Whether we want to be patient or not, the truth remains, we can't have things our way. We can't make God adjust to our timetable. It won't work. Have you ever heard the expression, "You can't hurry God?" Well, it's true. You see, the Lord never gets in a tizzy as a result of our impulsiveness. He is not moved by our displeasure with His process. On the contrary, He stands patiently by, waiting for us to settle down and learn that, no amount of toiling can change His will.
The Lord is working to develop our character, but we must be patient with His process--patience is a virtue. Sadly, many of us are too quick to make decisions. We don't control our impulses. We think we can't wait.
But if we would just learn to rest in God and trust His timing, we would be much better off. None of us knows God's timetable, but we do each have a set time. Whatever yours is, just trust that the Lord knows what's best for you.
There's an old song I love. It says, "Lord I will stand until you come for me. Inspite of my situation, inspite of my circumstances, I'll stand until you come for me." Make up your mind that, no matter how long it takes, you're willing to wait on the Lord.
When He brings you out, you can rest assured that, it will be well worth the wait!
Until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
