Have you ever heard the expression, "You can't see what's right under your nose"? Essentially, it's the idea that we are sometimes oblivious to the things that should be most obvious to us. This notion certainly applies to our walk with God. There are times when we pray and ask Him to do something for us. When He answers our prayers there are moments when we don't recognize what He's doing.
There are even instances when we misconstrue God's favor and view it through tainted eyes. This happens because we usually have preconceived notions about how God SHOULD manifest His will in our lives. But I told you before; we do not serve a reactionary God. He does not modify His methods to best suit our preferences.
But we seem to have the toughest time grasping that principle. So we get all vexed and unsettled for nothing. When things don't happen the way WE want or expect them to, we end up reverting back to our usual patterns...getting frustrated and complaining.
Can you relate to that? Lord knows I can.
I wonder; have you ever stopped to consider that some of the things you're going through right now are in fact moving you closer to your breakthrough? I know it may not feel like it or look like it.
So what.
Although everything may not be in place, can't you see signs that God's hand is at work in your life? That's where your faith comes in.
Listen, don't ever make the mistake of discounting the small victories that lead up to your final triumph. Certainly, everything you want won't happen at once, but little by little, things will come together.
If you can just stop focusing on what ISN'T going right, you'll see all that IS turning around in your favor.
Let's face it. We can't jump from "Point A" to "Point Z" in one single swoop. We can only arrive at our final destination by taking things one day at a time. And that's simply not going to change.
Thus, we need to better manage our expectations and be more realistic.
Instead of dreading the wait, decide to approach your situation with a better attitude. Be confident that God has already done what you've asked. All you have to do is wait for the manifestation.
When you begin thinking like that, you'll be much better equipped to endure the journey. Not only that, you'll feel better.
Here's what you do. Begin focusing more on how much God has done, is doing, and will do in your life; and focus less on what's not going the way you want it to.
Ask God to help you be more settled, less impulsive, and less anxious. Remember what the Word says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV).
Calm down. Trust God. Know He's on your side. If you still yourself and pay attention, you'll see all the good things that are happening right under your nose!
Until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
