Has there ever been a time in your life when you felt like your hopes were dashed, and you were left feeling disillusioned and disappointed? During these moments did you experience that feeling of let down that caused you to say, "God, but I thought..."
I sure have. There were certainly seasons in my life when my expectations weren't met. I fell short of the goals I was attempting to accomplish. My optimism quickly turned to pessimism once things blew up in my face.
Times like these are hard. We don't understand the reasons why we have to endure such struggles. We seek God for answers. I know how frustratingly difficult and painful it is when you're believing God to manifest something in your life, that just doesn't seem to be working out at the moment.
You plead with Him saying, "But I thought you said you would favor me; But I thought you promised to do it; But I thought it would have happened by now. But I thought I heard you Lord; But I thought you meant something else. But I thought this struggle would have been over by now; But I thought I'd never have to go through something like this. But I thought..."
Stop for a moment and hear what the Lord is saying to you...
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55: 8,9 NIV).
What are you going through today? What has you feeling confused and miffed? Whatever it is, I've got a message for you. Delay does not always mean denial. Just because you haven't yet seen the full revelation of what God is doing, don't give up hope. He knows the end from the beginning. It's already worked out.
Just be patient. If He started it, He'll finish it.
If you can't count on anything else, trust that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in your life. Even though the victory isn't apparent, it still belongs to you. Although your deliverance may be nowhere in sight, it's already yours. You can rejoice right now-- not because the waiting process is easy; rather, because you know you're coming out of this thing triumphantly. It's going to happen just as God promised it would!
Remain steadfast and encouraged. Your breakthrough is on the horizon.
Until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
