“If you expect to fail you will.” It’s true. Unless you elevate your level of expectancy, you’ll settle for the same mediocre circumstances and convince yourself that it doesn’t get any better than this.
I know its’ hard to do better when you’ve never seen better. But remember, you’re not in the business of following a path. Instead, you’re creating one. Even if people all around you have failed in business, college, career, marriage, ministry, or life in general; you won’t.
Why not? You won’t fail because you’re not them. Even if your parents failed, that doesn’t mean you have to accept the same thing. Never forget, you came through your parents, but you are not them. You are a unique individual. You’re making different choices. You’re taking an alternate path that leads to a better life. You’re not settling for second best. You’re going all the way. You’re going to go further than anyone ever has where you come from.
God is pushing doors wide open for you. Do you believe that? If so, I want you to start thinking differently. Change your mind about yourself. Alter your perspective concerning your circle and your circumstances.
Tell yourself right now, “Even if the great majority of people I know have failed, then I’ll become a part of the small minority that has succeeded.”
Did you say it? Listen, I won’t let you sit around and convince yourself that your future is molded by the failures of your predecessors. No way! I’m here to shake you out of whatever slump you might be in and tell you, it’s possible! Dream big! Whatever you’re believing God for is going to come to pass, as long as, you work at it.
I don’t care what it looks like. I don’t care who in your life has failed before you. God is going to use you to start a new legacy. It doesn’t matter what the cycles in your family have been, you don’t have to repeat them. You can chart a new course for your life. I know it may not be easy, but you can overcome your history.
Tell yourself, “My history does not have to become my story.” You don’t have to settle for second best. You do not have to live out the mistakes of those closest to you. You don’t have to walk out those steps that lead to unhappiness. You can do things differently. You have it in you. You’ve got what it takes!
Dig deep down and grab hold of that determination. Access that inner-fortitude and push. Push past your anxieties. Push past your fears. Push past your limitations. Push! I know it’s hard to break free and do something different when you don’t have an abundance of examples around you. Even if no one else you know has succeeded at what’s in your heart to do, say “so what” and press forward anyway.
You see, failure is not inherited; it is chosen. Hear me well. Failure is a choice. If you change “generational choices,” you’ll break “generational curses.” Every manifestation in your life is tied to a choice. If poverty has been in your family for years, you can break the cycle. How? Make different choices.
Failure doesn’t chase you down the street, jump around your neck, and start choking you until you surrender. On the contrary, in order for failure to control your life, you have to give into it. You have to accept it. You have to concede defeat.
I wonder; how many times have you surrendered to failure? How many times have you convinced yourself that maybe you don’t have what it takes? How many times have you told yourself you’ll never reach your goals? How many times have you stomped on your own dreams because you’re too afraid to believe? How many times have you settled for less?
If we’re honest, we all have at some point. But today, I want you to change your mentality. Recognize that even though you may not have all the answers, you do have all the power. The Greater One lives on the inside of you! You don’t have to be defeated. You don’t have to be unhappy for the rest of your life.
God wants the best for you, but you’ve got to trust Him. You can’t lose your faith in Him. Never stop believing. Everything He’s said about you will come to pass. His word won’t return to Him void, so expect to see His goodness manifested in your life.
Why is it so important to expect God’s goodness? Because your expectations become your reality.
If you convince yourself that failure is inevitable, then failure will be inevitable. It is not until you change your way of thinking that you can change your way of living. Your mentality determines your reality.
As I’ve said before, “If you change your mind. You’ll change your life.”
Until next time . . . may you be empowered to prosper!
