We all like fair weather. We want the sun to shine. We don’t like it when the dark storm clouds gather and hover in our lives. When the torrential rain of life falls it can feel overwhelming. But don’t stop aspiring to be all you can be just because of a little old rainstorm.
You may be thinking, “What exactly is a fair weather go-getter?” These are people who only go after their life’s purpose when all the conditions suit them just right. They wait for everything to be perfectly aligned with their expectations before making a move. That’s why they end up not making very many moves in life.
How do you know if you’re a fair weather go-getter? Well, let’s see. Do you come up with excuse after excuse about why you can’t live out your dreams? Do others try to encourage you and then you tell them all the reasons why it can’t be done? When folks attempt to inspire you to work harder do you believe they just don’t understand your situation? Do you constantly whine instead of work? Do you often feel that something or someone outside of you is hindering you from having what you want?
If that describes you, I want to deliver you today. I want to help you understand something about success and achievement. There is no way to maximize your full potential if you never learn how to overcome different levels of adversity. Sometimes, things will be easy as pie. Other times they won’t. However, you have to develop the mentality that says, “Whatever happens, I’m going to possess everything God says I can have!”
Don’t make the mistake of looking for fair weather or favorable conditions before you pursue your mission in life. That’s a huge mistake. Chances are the forecast won’t look exactly the way you want it to. So, the best thing to do is to begin working right in the middle of the storm. That’s right. Get out there and ignore the unfavorable conditions.
Just remain confident that even though things presently look bleak, your season will change. Before you know it the clouds will dissipate and the sun will shine again. But in the meantime, keep working through the inclement weather. Keep building upon your dreams. Keep reaching for your goals. Remain positive. Keep a good attitude. Continue to be optimistic.
And always tell yourself this one thing, “Outward conditions won’t change my inward convictions!”
That’s a good one to remember. Why? Because if you allow things you can’t control to stand as obstacles in your life, you’ll never get anywhere. You can’t always predict how things will play out, but you can control your response to the storm. You have to decide to stand firm. I told you yesterday, you’ve got to be consistent, persistent, and resilient if you want to experience the abundant life.
I know what it is to face adversity. We all do. Still, hold on to your faith and know that you’re about to take flight. This is the prime of your life. Your season is absolutely changing. You have everything in the world to look forward to. All you have to do is mentally prepare yourself for what’s to come.
You may experience some turbulence, but you can’t be weak-minded and easily discouraged –not if you really want to walk into your destiny.
You’ve got to grab hold of the authority you have in Christ. You’re an heir of God and joint heirs with Jesus. Don’t you know who you are? You’re royalty. You’ve been chosen to impact the world. And every storm that comes into your life will only make you better. You won’t be swallowed up as long as you don’t give up.
You’re more than a conqueror! You can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. The Greater One lives on the inside! God is with you. He’s your refuge in times of struggle. He promised to never leave nor forsake you. You’re not in this thing alone. He’s walking with you. He’s speaking to you.
He wants to show Himself strong on your behalf, but you’ve got to keep walking toward your promise. You’ve got to put on the armor of God and fortify yourself. The truth of the matter is, even though He’s with you, you’ll still confront some storms. But your consolation comes from knowing that you can endure if you’re willing to keep striving.
Whatever the weather, be it fair or foul, continue to be a go-getter!
Until next time . . . may you be empowered to prosper!
