Dianna's original quote for the day:
"Prayer changes things, but you have to implement the changes."
Today, I want you to focus on a very important principle. Here goes.
“God’s favor does not eliminate your labor.”
Simple, but revelatory . . . at least I think so. Please internalize that principle. It will change your life if you do. Essentially, today’s post piggybacks on what I was talking to you about yesterday. You have to take some initiative. You have to be motivated enough to go after what you want.
Unfortunately, I think many of us have a false sense of entitlement. What do I mean by that? Before I answer, let me establish a foundation.
Here’s what I believe:
- We are royalty.
- God has given us dominion.
- His favor rests upon us.
- He has given us power to accomplish mighty things for His Kingdom.
- We must put our complete confidence in God.
Now that I’ve established a foundation, I’ll address the issue of entitlement. You see, growing up in the church, we’re often taught to trust God and He’ll take care of everything else. And while I agree that we need to put our faith and confidence in the Lord, I think it’s very naïve to assume that just because we believe in His sovereignty and power, we can sit back, relax, and watch Him work.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Keep reading and I’ll save you years of frustration for free.
Certainly, the Lord will give you the wisdom you need to carry out His will. However, at no time does your connection to Him absolve you of your duty to work toward your goals. Sometimes, I think we unconsciously become apathetic in our approach to our dreams. We have deceived ourselves into believing that, even if we don’t do our part, everything will still somehow come together just because we love God and He loves us.
Sorry. It doesn’t work that way.
Anything you want, you’re going to have to get out there and go for it 100%. Because, if you half step, then your life’s circumstances will be reflective of that. And you’ll end up broke, busted, disgusted . . . even though you trusted. Got that? Trusting doesn’t mean recite scriptures, attend church, get your dance on, and then sit around hoping for the best.
On the contrary, it means doing all of the above, as well as: Educating yourself, constructing a plan of action and implementing practical strategies, until you get the results you want. Anything short of that will lead to years of unnecessary hardship, struggle, and fruitless waiting.
So, I admonish you not to settle in and wait around for the great “divine bail out.” It’ll never come. What’s more, you’ll wrongly blame God for failing you, when in reality, you have failed yourself.
Listen. Yes, God does love you. And yes, He does have good plans for your life. Still, all of us are required to utilize the skills, intelligence and common sense the good Lord has given us, to realize our ultimate potential.
Until next time . . . may you be empowered to prosper!
