I told those germs, "Bam, take that!"
Disinfectant on deck and all, that old evil virus has taken down another Hobbs warrior. *Hangs head*
When I spoke to him during our daily lunch call, my husband Kenya sounded so pitiful Daily Cup family. “I’m not feeling too hot,” he said lifelessly.
“Uh oh,” I replied. “You’ve been had babe?”
“I think so,” he admitted, defeated.
Looks like the kids have passed along their cooties to their dear old dad.
Poor thing.
All the children—except my 13 year old daughter Kyla (She just turned 13 Saturday and I still can hardly believe it!)—have been suffering with a virus strain causing symptoms of a stomach flu and common cold combined.
Just terrible.
The onslaught of illness began late last week with 5-year-old Kaleb and thankfully, skipped over me, my oldest daughter Kyla, and before today, Kenya.
We’ve been doing all we can, like faithfully spraying things down with Lysol to keep the germs from spreading. But there are so many ways for a virus to pass from person-to-person; there isn’t really much that can be done about it.
Those stubborn airborne microorganisms, even with all the disinfectant spray and other germ-killing strategies I've used, are still lingering. They just will not go away.
Yesterday, despite my best efforts, I was stuck at home nursing sick little rug rats during Sunday Morning worship service. I also missed our family’s Sunday evening Super Bowl gathering held at my mom and dad’s house.
Bummer.
At this point, I'm convinced that I could have everyone take Lysol showers all day and it wouldn't change anything. As my doctor always tells me, Viruses just have to run their course, Dianna.
The same is true of life's storms until God says otherwise..
I often say there will be times when your very best efforts won’t produce the results you want. You’ll do all you know how to do and the problem will persist; the pain will remain; the plans will fall through; the positive results you were hoping for won’t manifest.
But you can’t let that discourage you.
You have to remember in times like these that you aren’t in control.
God is.
When He says it's time, things will change, but not a moment sooner.
I know it can be frustrating when you do your best and see the worst still happen, or you work diligently and seemingly remain stagnant. Trust me, I know what that's like. But God has a time set aside for manifestation in each of our lives.
We are not in control of that timetable, so why stress? All we can do is our part and then, trust God's timing and plan.
Power belongs to Him. He reigns. And when He says the moment has come for things to turn around, they will.
To remind you that God is in complete control and authority belongs to Him alone, I’m stirring Psalm 24:1NKJV into your cup of inspiration. It says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you’ll be encouraged by the revelation that all the inhabitants of the earth, including you and me, fall under God's domain. The Lord, the Creator of all things, is in control of our circumstances. And as long as we remain under His authority, the times and seasons of our lives are in His hands.
We don't need to try to manipulate, change, or alter God’s plan. That's useless.
We cannot accelerate or decelerate God's process. So we may as well let Him have His way, amen?
Remember Galatians 6:9 NIV says, “at the proper time we will reap a harvest…”
Wait on the Lord.
Now let’s pray.
God, thank You for reminding me that I am not in control. You, oh Sovereign God, have all power in Your hands! Today, I free myself of the weight and burden of trying to control and manipulate circumstances. I give up the reins and turn them over to You, the one who reigns forevermore. Your way, your time, and your will is best, and it is what I want for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
