A cardboard box is a real treasure in the Hobbs home if you ask our children. I don’t know exactly from where they draw their inspiration, but they have converted numerous utilitarian storage containers into masterpieces and miniature works of art.
With nothing more than scissors, paper, markers, glue sticks, imagination, and a whole lot of time, our creative little ones have constructed fully furnished homes. They have even customized molds for vehicles and built replicas of unique destinations, complete with paper people to inhabit them.
I am so fascinated by their view of the world and how Kyla, Kaiah, Kedar, and Kaleb find wonder in the everyday things most would deem insignificant. You should see the intricacies of the original designs: pictures on walls, car engines, accessories with fine attention to detail. It’s nothing short of amazing!
As the saying goes, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” It all depends on how you see things, right?
Personally, when I come across a cardboard box, I think about storage and nothing more. Because of my perspective, it serves no greater purpose. I don’t perceive its value or usefulness beyond that.
But to someone who loves to decoupage, they know how to add layers of embellishments and designs onto a plain surface to transform it into a work of art. A box, from their perspective, is a blank canvas waiting to be decorated and beautified.
Perspective is everything. That’s why we have to work on ours when it comes to seeing our worth.
We must recognize that we are in the hands of God, a Master Artisan, who has a knack for crafting spectacular artworks from what others and sometimes, we, dismiss as pretty unspectacular.
To remind you of how amazing you are in the eyes of God, I want to stir one my favorite, oft used, scriptures into your cup of inspiration. It comes from Ephesians 2:10 NLT and says, “For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
When you drink down the contents of your cup, you will be reminded that you are a treasured, invaluable masterpiece to God.
If you don't by now, begin seeing yourself that way too.
Now let's pray.
God, please help me to see myself as You see me: valued, treasured, cherished, significant, a masterpiece, perfectly crafted, created, designed and loved by You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
If you need prayer, don't hesitate to request it. I would be honored to stand in faith with You. I know that prayer works. CLICK HERE to learn how to submit your prayer request.
