Good Morning Daily Cup family!
I don't typically blog on Saturdays, as you know, but I woke up with a message in my heart I feel led to share. I don't know who I'm specifically blogging for today, but I do know this.
This post is especially for those of you who are going through a dry place and a wilderness season.
I want to tell you don't be discouraged.
God is simply allowing it so that you will shift your focus from your circumstances and begin longing and seeking after Him.
David wrote Psalm 63:1-3 KJV when he was in the wilderness of Judah dwelling in a dry land with no water. This powerful song says:
O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;
To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
As you see from this passage of scripture, the desolation of the natural terrain made David ponder, not his NATURAL thirst, but his SPIRITUAL thirst for God. His yearning for the presence and glory of God intensified in the midst of dry circumstances.
That's powerful.
David was able to praise in his dry place, simply by focusing on God's lovingkindness that he said "is better than life."
When you and I go through a dry place, our focus must shift from the natural to the spiritual. When this paradigm shift occurs, we can then experience the kind of refreshing that only comes from the "living water" of which Jesus Christ spoke to the Samaritan woman at the well in St. John 4.
This morning, I believe God wants me to share with someone that Christ, our thirst-quencher, is able to reach beyond our circumstances and satisfy the deepest longing of our souls.
To remind you of this truth, I'm stirring Matthew 5:6 into your special weekend cup of inspiration. It says, "Blessed are they who do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled."
When you drink down the contents of your divinely prepared cup, you'll be reminded to pursue God, because He is the only one who is able to give you the life-sustaining satisfaction that no earthly treasure can provide.
When you seek after Him, you'll be able to do what David did, and praise through your dry season.
Now let us pray.
Father, I thank You for this word tailor-made and fashioned just for me. I am humbled that You thought enough of me to speak directly to me and my situation. Thank You, dear Lord, for challenging me to praise you through my dry season. I accept the challenge today and with a humble heart, lifted up only in praise to You, I surrender to Your will. Right now, I ask for a refreshing and a renewing of my spirit as I hunger and thirst after You. Fill me to the point of overflowing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may today's cup of inspiration uplift, encourage, and empower you!
