This Thoughtful Thursdays is dedicated to those who are suffering in Haiti. I was reading reports yesterday that rescuers were still finding survivors trapped in the ruins of
collapsed buildings in Haiti, as a magnitude 5.9 aftershock rattled
Port-au-Prince, the strongest since the original
7.0-magnitude quake struck on January 12th, according to the United States Geological
Survey.
Many survivors still aren't receiving food, water and medicine, and the death toll is steadily climbing. I have received countless prayer requests from those who have loved ones caught up in the midst of this sad and awful tragedy. Though I cannot post them all, I ask that you continue to earnestly pray for Haiti and the many families whose lives have been shaken up in the worst way by this quake.
Please join me in praying for the following individuals on our Thoughtful Thursdays list.
1. Natasha Echols has 3 family members in Haiti who have not yet been found. She's tried everything she can think of to locate her family, to no avail. Natasha is distraught and discouraged by her unfruitful search and is asking that we pray and believe God with her for the safe discovery of her family.
2. Shannon Wright is beside herself with grief since losing her Uncle Sylvester and her Niece, Alanna (7) in the earthquake. The two of them were visiting family in Port-au-Prince at the time of the tragic event. Now, Shannon, who has been living with her uncle for 3 years since both of her parents were tragically killed, doesn't know how to begin picking up the pieces of her life again. Let us pray for God's comfort and peace over Shannon's life right now.
3. Jackie Weeks is praying on behalf of her friend, Sheryl Johnson, who cannot locate her parents. She hasn't heard from them since the earthquake struck Haiti and now, she's beginning to fear they might be dead. Jackie says that Sheryl talks to her parents everyday. For them not to reach out is atypical. Join me in praying for Sheryl that God would also comfort her and guide the search.
4. Natasha Salters' mother was found alive and pulled from underneath the ruins of a fallen building in Haiti, but later died while waiting for medical care. She is requesting that we pray, not for her, but for the relief efforts in Haiti, so that those who are injured, hungry and without basic necessities, will get the resources, supplies, and help they need in time.
5. Annika Johnson has been working hard to organize a community effort for Haiti relief, after two of her friends lost loved ones in the earthquake. She's soliciting our prayers for her efforts and trusting God to give her favor in this endeavor. Annika is also asking that we pray for one of her friends in particular. Her name is Danielle and she lost her mother.
Thank you so much for praying with me!
