The other day, during bath time, I shampooed both the boys' hair, but I didn't wash it out right away. I let it sit while they played with their tub toys for a little while. Well, when time came to rinse Kaleb's hair, he said, "No mommy, I don't need my hair rinse[ed] out." Then, Kedar chimed in, "Yeah Mommy, see, he doesn't need it. The shampoo is gone out of his hair. It just melted while we were playing."
Kedar's eyes were stretched wide with that adorable, innocent sparkle in them.
I looked over at Kaleb's hair and chuckled to myself. I knew exactly why the boys thought the shampoo had magically disappeared. To look at it, little Kaleb's hair showed no signs of having been lathered and full of sudsy bubbles. As time passed, the suds had indeed dissolved and settled, but the soap was definitely still in there... even though it wasn't visible to the eye.
Sometimes, what God has placed inside of us isn't yet manifesting outwardly, but we have to remain assured that, it's in there. All those gifts, talents, visions and dreams, that have been divinely bestowed upon us, have not suddenly "melted away," though there may not be any real visible signs of productivity or growth in those areas. These are what I call dry seasons and they can really try your faith.
That Commercial from the 80's...
I'm reminded of the very popular 80's commercial about Prego Spaghetti sauce and the tagline we all recited: "It's In There."
Remember that?
Of course, if you're reading this blog and were born in the 80's, you likely won't have a very vivid memory (If any at all) of the national ad campaign for Prego, that eventually became the number one selling dry grocery product of the decade. Well, whenever someone in the commercial would express skepticism about this sauce from the jar being as good as homemade sauce, another person would reassure them that all the rich herbs, spices and flavor that made homemade sauce so delicious, were indeed in that jar. I posted the commercial below to jar your memory...no pun intended. :-)
Today, I encourage you not to be discouraged by what you don't see. Perhaps, things are bottled up inside of you and your dreams seem locked away in a sealed jar. Still, hold fast to your faith, even in dry seasons, knowing that God is faithful to usher you into your season of manifestation when the time is right. In the meantime, if things seem to be stagnant, remind yourself that, all you need, in order to do and become what God has purposed for you, is already on the inside of you my friend.
It's in there.
And when your season comes, what's "in there" will be revealed "out there" where everyone can see God's glory shining brightly through you!
As always, thanks for reading and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
