The Bible says, "...pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (See James 5:16 KJV)
When we walk upright before the Lord, our prayers are effective. Things happen. Sickness is healed. Emotional issues are resolved and spiritual needs are met. As I often tell you, prayer works, amen? That's what I want us to keep in mind, so we'll never stop believing in the necessity and power of prayer.
You know, this past week, I received disturbing reports from many individuals struggling with personal issues, health concerns, and even coping with a sudden loss of a loved one. Though many of you are being covered in my private prayer time with the Lord, there are those who desire to share your request with the Daily Cup Readers.
More and more, I realize that we can never be sure about what tomorrow holds. None of us can ever know when trouble or hardship will strike, but we can always rest assured that we have a refuge in Christ our Savior.
He will sustain us in our time of need and desperation. Today, we're praying for those who are going through some difficult tests and trials. We know the Lord is able to deliver. Join me on this Thoughtful Thursday in prayer for the following:
1. A Daily Cup Reader, Keisha, who just recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy named Jaxon, needs our prayers. Her mother suddenly took ill and had to be rushed to the hospital last Thursday, where she ended up in the ICU. The doctors are groping to find the true causes of her pain and sickness. So, please pray for Keisha's mother that God would stretch forth His hand of healing.
Also, Keisha has 3 uncles who are simultaneously battling cancer and a cousin who seems to be losing his fight with severe illness. Pray that God would sustain her family through this trying time, while giving them a renewed sense of peace and unity.
2. Pray for my 5 year old niece, Jaria. She had to be rushed to the ER a couple nights ago for what doctors initially believed was an asthma attack, so they treated her accordingly, only to find out that they had misdiagnosed and overdosed her with the wrong drug. Jaria landed in the ICU needing oxygen to breathe. Since then, her condition has improved, but she's still battling a case of Pneumonia. Pray that God would heal her little body and help her mother (my sister) not to worry.
3. Vanessa Webster wrote in about a terrible tragedy that happened to close friends and fellow church members. Sadly, the Williams-Graham family lost their 23 year old son in a swimming accident while he was out with a church group. Pray that God will console them in this time of unimaginable grief.
Also, Vanessa's long-time friend slipped away to be with the Lord in her sleep. So, be mindful to pray for those left behind in the Jones-Brannic family. Finally, Vanessa has been struggling with shoulder pain and stiffness, but not really knowing what was wrong. She just received the results of her MRI and doctors discovered two tears and one partial tear in her shoulder that may require surgery. Pray that God bring her through this ordeal as she and her doctors seek out the safest and best way to rectify the issue.
We know our prayers have power. Today, be sure to set aside a moment and call out these names and if, by chance, you need prayer, don't hesitate to reach out. Send your prayer-mail to dailycup@eewmagazine.com. Let me know if you want to get listed in the Thoughtful Thursdays post or if you simply want to be covered in prayer in my private time alone with the Lord. Either way, I will be more than happy to believe God with you for the manifestation of whatever it is you need according to His perfect will and plan.
Thank you for being thoughtful enough to join me in prayer this week.
As always, thanks for reading, and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
