I shared details with you the other day about my 8 year old daughter, Kaiah and her Birthday party at Grandma's. Well, once she opened her gifts that day, she got so excited and blurted out, "This is the best day of my life!" I chuckled to myself at her innocent, yet genuine sincerity.
Well, as the days have progressed, that has become a new catch phrase among my children at home. Today, I made them all ice cream cones and little Kaleb said in between licks and in his best broken English, "Dis is da best day of my yife!"
Now, of course that was funny to me, because I know that life has much more to offer than a few new toys and ice cream cones. But in their limited understanding, that's about as good as it gets.
You know, sometimes, we too, can get stuck thinking that where we are right now is as good as it gets, but we haven't even scratched the surface of what God has in store. Just like children, our vision for our future can be pretty limited.
At times, we have trouble looking past our right now and seeing what's awaiting us down the road. But God knows our end from the beginning. He is fully aware of the purpose and plan He's designed for us. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV).
Just as the notion that an ice cream cone represents life's apex or the pinnacle of happiness, is a bit misguided, the same is true of the belief that our best days are behind us. Today, I want you to embrace a brighter vision for your future, no matter what your present looks like. Even though you may not know how you're going to achieve all God has placed in your heart, still believe that His promises will be fulfilled in you. Your best days are in front of you.
Be encouraged today and know that you have yet to see the full manifestation of God's favor and provision in your life! I think an old Donald Lawrence hit says it best. It's likely that you already know it... or maybe not. Either way, press play on the video below and let one of my favorite songs, "The Best is Yet to Come," minister to you.
As always, thanks for reading, and until next time... may you be empowered to prosper!
