I was talking to a close family member briefly yesterday and during the course of the conversation, we ended up talking about something difficult she had endured just a couple of years ago, that now, feels like a distant memory. She got emotional during the conversation, because she remembered just how hopeless and in despair she once felt. She thought she might never receive her deliverance or breakthrough.
But God did it!
I wonder; when is the last time you took a look back? If you haven't done it in a while, you ought to take some time today to reflect on a few of the things the Lord has done for you. Meditate on how far He's brought you. Call to mind a time when you thought it was all over, when it seemed like you would never make a comeback... and you did. Think back on a season when you were brokenhearted, discouraged and cast down. Chances are, you didn't know if you'd ever get your joy back, but God restored it, didn't He?
Isn't God good?
Sometimes, when we get tempted to focus on all the things that are out of order and not working out for us, we need to begin reminiscing about old times when the Lord brought us through. Reach back 2 years, 5 years, or maybe even 10 years ago. What are you doing now that, back then, you thought you'd never be able to do? What do you have now that, a few years ago, you only dreamed of having? How has God blessed your life and changed things for the better?
Think back.
Once you start thinking back, you'll begin to see just how truly blessed you are and how far you've come.
